    X4: Cradle of Humanity, the second big expansion for X4: Foundations, brings the X series back to Earth. While significantly increasing the size of the game's universe with new sectors, the expansion also welcomes two Terran factions to X4: Foundations, along with their economy, ships, weapons and stations. New game-starts introduce the identity and political stance of the Terran factions, as well as give an alternative perspective on existing story developments in X4: Foundations.

    X4: Cradle of Humanity also sheds a light on what has happened to Earth in the decades since the jump-gate shutdown. Furthermore, a certain pirate faction that is well known to fans of the series is making a dramatic comeback.

    X4: Cradle of Humanity is accompanied by the biggest free update to X4: Foundations yet. Update 4.0 further enhances X4: Foundations in a number of ways, including major new gameplay features (e.g. a new terraforming feature) and wide-ranging visual improvements (e.g. volumetric fog).

    A mixed bag for me.

    Positives The Terran quest lines are great New ships are very attractive, if a bit slow. Negatives The new zones are disappointing and feel very empty. Some new manufactured items for building but they seem so basic in comparison to the base game production items. This is in part to why the zones feel empty, since they only need about 6 stations for productions. Slowed progression with the pre-DLC patch for an unknown reason. Mining has been nerfed in areas close to the highway (safer areas) Both Extraction rates and ore values within belts. It feels like an effort to slow down money making and slow the player down to the same speed that the AI responds to external threats. If a person is on the fence about buying, get Split Vendetta instead and wait for a sale on this one.

    I love it!

    Pros: I'm most a story guy when it came to this kind of games, and Cradle of Humanity deliver an awesome questline that is incredibly tied toguether. It finally give that feel of doing something important and shape the galaxy, insted of just getting look at the map endlessly. And yes! CHOICES really big CHOICES with REAL CHARACTERS, and EVEN A COMPANION (temporally tough) with his OWN story, personality and background! Thats what i'm talking about! DO MORE OF THAT! Neutral: this DLC seen to be made especifically with the story in mind, not so much about the RTS aspectsof the game (that i almost forgot at some point, even some of the rewards seen to be pushing you towards this direction, this part is great and all, but they could have worked a little more in some other areas altough i didn't manage to see the terraformation mechanic yet, hence why this critique is "neutral". Cons: I seem to be earning less money... i constatly see myself hunting cristals now, when in previous playthroughs i just do that at the beginning of the game and then i forget about. Some of the rewards for complete the main questlines seens repetitive. Yes, it is good, BUT still repetitive. Egosoft guys? Be a little more creative next time, TWO of the same? but with different functions and you didn't decide to make ONLY the functions of those ships available? Be more creative, next time, add functions, not "unique" garbage that could be blow up easily

    The Terrans

    With this DLC the Terrans return, the plot is very good, but it needs more ships, in X3 Terran Conflict and X3 Albion Prelude the terrans and other races had a huge variety of ships.
