Truly Unique Gem of a Game.
Well, I think this is my first review in GOG.com, so here goes... I bought X3, X3:AP, X3:TC on steam this year after thinking I will never see this on GOG. Boy, am I eating my words now! -_-;; X3: Reunion, like all the other games of the series is an incredible achievement. A milestone in gaming, one might say. It encompasses pretty much all elements of gaming (adventure, combat, trading, empire-building) into a single platform. As far as open-ended game goes, nothing really can match the sheer amount of freedom and choices that X-Series offers, and X3: Reunion is no different. You want to be a privateer who takes no quarters? Go ahead. Want to be a trader of a specific sector? Go ahead (just don't get a #$%@ing Boron Dolphin.) Want to just float around the space doing nothing in particular? Well you can do that as well. At times, you feel like a lost insignificant speckle on a large universe which is happily moving along without recognizing you - the main character. And I suppose this is a main griping point for some. Like rest of its brothers X3: Reunion doesn't offer much in terms of storyline or tutorial. This sometimes means that the new player will sometimes find things frustrating in early game. But, if you can survive the early learning curve, then the game does really come into its own. Visually, All of X-series has aged incredibly well and you do not really feel this is a game from a decade ago. Voice-acting and sound-effect is mediocre, but does not spoil the game experience. TL; DR - A highly recommendable game, if you like: > Open-World / Sandbox Game > Space Exploration (Think "Space Odyssey: 2001") > Multi-Tasking (You will probably want keyboard+mouse+joystick and an extra hand somewhere)
