A must buy for Quake fans
I don't write reviews often so I won't go into detail, but if you loved Quake, especially Q1, you NEED to get this and try it.. It's far exceeded by expectations and is even better then Ion Fury (which I also enjoyed very much) Proud to have this in my drm-free library

Add another star if...
...you like enemies spawning in repeatedly and jacking your cortisol levels. Watch out, someone might spawn behind you! This happened enough in the first part and I heard it even gets worse later in the game. Phenomenal-looking game and could've been a 'Quake 2', set in the original Quakeverse. But the game uses cheap monster spawning to put you on edge. Not my thing.

I really wanted to like this game.
It has some good stuff going on but the bad outweighs it. Movement feels great and fluid, fast paced but the enemy AI is not good. The game has been early development for ever and it doesn't seem like its going anywhere soon.

Good base, but gets tedious pretty fast
Wrath is very much like Elder Scrolls Online: More fun to look at than to play. The levels look gorgeous for the style they went with....but a LOT of them are way too long for their own good, A certain level in E3 is the worst offender in that regard: Bullshit platforming over deathpits, windowdressing in gigantic arenas and the parts in between filled with ambushes of the same 3 enemies. The weapons are also a problem: Most fall in the "like x, but but not as good/slightly different"- category. There is no real RL or GL, and the shotgun is one of the worst in recent history. Even with the shrine/tether system the game isn't really difficult if you played a FPS or two (finished hard with 50+ tethers left). The physics when not on level surfaces are still as jank as in early access.

Well worth the wait
Yeah, it took a hell of a long time to come out in full but it was worth it. If you liked how ION Fury was a wholly authentic modern Build Engine experience then this id Tech 2 (ie. Quake engine) experience will be right up your alley.
