World of Goo is a multiple award winning physics based puzzle / construction game made entirely by two guys. Drag and drop living, squirming, talking, globs of goo to build structures, bridges, cannonballs, zeppelins, and giant tongues. The millions of Goo Balls that live in the beautiful World of Goo are curious to explore - but they don't know that they are in a game, or that they are extremely delicious.
Congratulations, and good luck!
Mysterious Levels - Each level is strange and dangerously beautiful, introducing new puzzles, areas, and the creatures that live in them.
World of Goo Balls - Along the way, undiscovered new species of Goo Ball, each with unique abilities, come together to ooze through reluctant tales of discovery, love, conspiracy, beauty, electric power, and the third dimension.

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
I have many, many, many games and finish just 20% of them. I just get bored after some time..
But this one is a masterpiece. Finished it in one looooong run.
Totally worth it!
The puzzles are okay, but the interface makes them harder. Some require quick thinking and picking the right gooball but this can be really complicated because the swarm makes it hard to pick just the one you need; the understandably jiggly physics sometimes requires split-second action and if you fail you might have to start again. The game gives limited undos for each puzzle, but sometimes the physics forces you to use two or three. You can skip a limited number of items (the option is a bit hidden in the screen) but I don't know if those options refresh, or what. Tha guidance for each level is quite limited; most levels are somewhat obvious, but the few that aren't can be very frustrating due to the ui limitations I mentioned. A BIT TOO FRUSTRATING for what looks like a light-hearted game, with somewhat uneven puzzles.
I've loved this game since it came out and have bought it on every platform we have. It's completely brilliant! I'm also extremely appreciative of the developers who continued to release updated versions of the game that could run on newer hardware and OS releases.
This game should be played by everyone. It has an original concept and with really smart puzzles. It keeps giving you fresh challenges that keep you engaged. The artwork is great and the music awesome. Make a favor to yourself and play this game.
World of Goo is a puzzle game from 2008 that made a lot of noise back then because it was a Wiiware hit, truly enjoyable for what it was in that era when we were discovering those new wireless game controllers, getting the most of them on physical games (or breaking TVs) but not a lot of it on more normal experiences. Or at least that's how I remember it.
The puzzles are simple to understand, fully based on physics as we control little balls of goo and try to get them through a pipe along 44 levels, in 5 chapters. A lot of levels are fairly straightforward, but some here and there are quite clever and like a good puzzle game, manage to frustrate you, make you think, and give you the sweet satisfaction when you finally clear them. The puzzles are also quite short, and if you want an extra challenge there's an optional hard mode with tougher requirements to clear a level.
So far so good, a nice and cool casual game. Why did it age well then? because the physics are still brilliant. It's easy to understand why your goo structure toppled, controls also work exactly as intended: good when you need accuracy, bad when you have your small structure full of little balls moving around and can't pick the one you need right out of the bad, a deliberate inconvenience that might be the special sauce behind this "connect the dots" experience. It just works.
What didn't age well is the whole outlook. Sound is fine and the little noises the goo balls make are great, but the whole UI and cutscenes do look dated. It's not awful, it just looks like a product of its time in a way. It's also missing a couple of features that could have made it a timeless game, mainly a level editor and some more of those difficult puzzles because really, quite a few of them are introductions to some new type of goo ball, and a few of them are also simple actions for the chapter endings. The story was also a bit eh, but it doesn't really matter.
Close to perfection, better than I remembered.
