Inferior to The New Order

The New Order is probably my favorite single-player FPS of all time. They did something really incredible with the writing, music, and character/world development that really makes it an all time classic. This sequel, on the other hand, is not very good. The only thing that this sequel does better is the shooting. The shooting is great. Everything else is a step back from its predecessor. Levels are poorly signposted so it's easy to get lost. Stealth is given as an option but you're often railroaded into firefights anyway. A lot of really interesting characters are introduced in slick cutscenes and then never utilized. Familiar characters from the previous game are given very flimsy story arcs, and just dropped (looking at you, Fergus). The tone is all over the place, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the plot and writing really doesn't come through to support it well. The pacing is all over the place, and the villain quite simply sucks compared to The New Order. Somehow the final boss was less interesting than the other combat setpieces littered throughout the campaign; I didn't even realize it was a final boss until the credits rolled. They did such a terrible job with the character development, emotional beats, and plotting I was amazed to find out it's the same writing team as The New Order. I don't understand how the same writers can throw away all the great stuff they built up over their last outing and replace it with...whatever this is. This game suffers from a lot of the same problems Bioshock Infinite does. There's a lot of slick presentation and interesting themes on display, but if you make any effort to think carefully about anything, it just comes apart. "But it's a shooter!" you may think, "cut it some slack." That's fine. But it still doesn't change the fact that they did better in the past, and failed to build on what made that game a classic.

incoherent mess

bluntly speaking TNC is written like a movie, not a game. It tries to humanize its protagonist as a person with deep trauma while forgetting that his primary narrative purpose is killing nazis. The game opens with a long cutscene about his traumatic childhood and then, at the outset debuffs his health to try and force you to use stealth. the stealth gameplay is miserable, there will be lengthy and reasonably decent stealth segments ended with seige runs that start you off without any armor causing long, frustrating bouts of flailing as you try and figure out how to survive the latest action set piece. this game placed its mechanics secondary to its story and forgot that it came from a genre about blowing up mad scientist laboratories and killing nazis. As onboard as I am with black panther hackers helping me destroy nazi facilities I cannot say this is a good game. buy it on sale or not at all. the gun play is better than new order but its undermined by the fact that most of the game takes place with your health locked below 50 with armor pickups being scarce and the stealth gameplay being unforgiving and often impossible.

Great game with bad DLC

Wolfenstein 2 might not be as innovative as the previous game but it's still a great shooter with that juicy B-movie action vibe to it. With the right hardware, the game runs butter smooth and the actual shooting is awesome. Gory, pulsating and full of adrenaline although maybe a tad too easy at times. Blasko is now en route to America in an attempt to rid it of the nazi regime and the local henchmen (the Klan). The game sometimes feels like a love letter to Tarantino movies and sometimes it's just weird in it's change of pace and tone but for the FPS lovers it's a solid recommendation.

The ending ruined the whole experience

I knew the game's reputation, I knew what I was getting into, I went in with an open mind and low expectations, ready to accept the game for what it is: A mindless Nazi-Killing Power Fantasy. Every thing bad I heard about the game was true, yet, I got some enjoyment out of it, I got what I paid for, I wasn't disappointed... but, nothing could have mentally prepare me for that ending. No epic final confrontation, no last minute revelation, not even a nice cutscene at the end. Two particularly big Nazis in Power Armor, a lame last confrontation with the "very big bad nazi woman" that might as well be a cutscene, followed by a weak rallying speech, credits, back to hub to complete side missions in reused locations. Is there more after that? I don't know, I don't care! after such dissapointment I can't muster enought will power to even boot the game again and find out. Instead, I wrote this review, only to rant about it. I won't even bother with Young Blood.

WTNC Deluxe Edition

Well, 'm going to write two reviews, one for this version (the one I purchased) and other for the base game. After an incredible reboot with The New Order and The Old Blood, Machine Games make a comeback with The New Colossus, is an incredible good shooter, the gunplay is great, the weapons sounds feel powerful, the story is really interesting and the characters well develop (with a few exception). The problem is in the gameplay, they try to copy the Doom 2016 gameplay, but they omit the health system of that game, what make you run like a b*tch every time you are low on health and need some bandages. So that make it inferior to it's predecessors. One negative point of this version (and that's why the deluxe edition diserves 3 and not a4 stars) are the DLC, fells like a cashgrab, are boring and short, so if you want to skip them, you won't lose anything!!!
