Winter Memories

I keep reading people saying, "Oh it's a lot of the same", "They re-used animations", "The gameplay is too much like the first one." I can't agree completely. While there are similar aspects in overall look and feel, WM takes a more experience based approach to leveling up and story progression than Summer Memories, which was definitely more grindy and just plain out task repetition at times. I felt like for a good 2/3 of SM I spent time managing the clock to try and get homework done which kept me from...other pursuits. WM certainly has some of that held over, but if you actually played the game, the various quality of life improvements do enough to make it perceptibly a different game. Yes, the base character models are essentially the same, except in winter clothes, although spoiler - Suzuka got her hair cut. There's new art for the...cutscenes, and an inset animation window for other...actions. Menko is there, but there's a new move or two you can learn, and it's much more important to the overall story. The right-click menu allowing you to go directly to the heroine you want, as well as see her stats was for me the biggest improvement in the game. I liked SM, but WM takes the best aspects of its predecessor, (kind of like Baldur's Gate 2 did with BG1) and then leans more into letting you realize more of the ultimate prize on your first playthrough. Though, like SM before it, is not meant to "finish" in one run. This is a full sequel, not a glorified expansion, as some have argued. You should play SM before you get into this one. There's a couple of lines at the beginning that recap SM, but that first interaction with Aunt Miyuki won't have as much impact if you didn't play SM. From what I've gathered from reading online, there's most likely going to be a Spring Memories. Not quoting anything, but there's several little dialogue items in WM that point to Boku coming back to stay with them once more. Also, Miyuki-san is best girl.

This game is a continuation of summer memories that builds on the gameplay elements and improves a lot of the H content. If you liked the content of summer memories then you'll like winter memories which is more of the same. Story: There isn't much of a story. Essentially, you go back to your cousins again for spring break and during that time you make memories by lewding the various characters. Each character has a story that fleshes out their personality and eventually leads to them revealing a fetish of theirs as well as making a love confession to the player. Some are more wholesome than others but for the most part they're all pretty good. Gameplay: The gameplay is more or less the same but instead of action points being used and certain events skipping entire time slices, each action including moving takes a certain amount of time and the time slice doesn't progress until a certain time on the clock is reached. I like this system better. How much you can do in a day is largely dependent on your stamina now. The rest of the gamplay elements are pretty much the same as the first game. Art/CG: Upgraded from the first. Many of the same fetishes are shared between the games but there's also the addition of ntr elements for a couple of the characters. For the most part it's pretty vanilla and wholesome and the ntr elements are pretty light and contained to Kanae and the bug catcher lady from the first game. They've added closeup animations of characters during the pixel sex minigame and CG art seems to have improved from the first game. Issues: Widgets clip with other widgets and there are some mistranslations. Additionally, progressing or getting certain scenes can get difficult due to obtuse requirements. There are also less CG's per character than the first. In all I liked this game and would recommend it. It seems like the creator has moved on from the series so while it was teased it doesn't look like we'll be getting a spring memories which sucks.

Another banger from doujinotome. I didn’t even realise that it was released. The game play is more or less the same. A big difference in both games are the time periods for completion the original game had around one month but the sequel has a skill that extends its time period but the general time frame to complete it is around 24 so days I believe. Other than that the quality of life improvements and new additions are immaculate. The gameplay and story is respectful to a point that the game feels like we are revisiting the summer memories series in a beaut and heart touching way. It feels completely different but also familiar in a great way. I am looking forward to the addition of dlc and new content from this series entry. 10/10 game.

It does feel like a continuation of the first game, with the map a little bigger, and the mechanics a little more fleshed out. Like the first game you don't need to stress about missing out on something before the time runs out - you can continue and pick up the missing pieces. I do miss the "lost innocence" part of the first game where a kid is exploring sexuality for the first time. It felt more experienced. And the fact that everyone is so completely comfortable with sex makes it less believeable. The graphics aren't amazing, but it was still a fun life simulator to play.

It's practically the same thing as the prequel but with many improvements making the experience much better compared to the original
