Wings of Prey: Special Edition

This sim is created by the original Il-2 veterans, now known as Gaijin. They enhanced the old Il-2 engine in a lot of ways in preparations for creating War Thunder, and released this game on PS3 and PC. As such, it got "squeezed in" between the releases of Il-2 and WT, and was pretty much ignored, which is a shame, because this is a very nice-looking survey simulation packed with aircraft and features. If you're fully into switchology I'd recommend you skip this and just head on off to IL-2: Box which has all the rivets you want, but if you want an offline War Thunder-level sim, WoP pretty much nails everything you could want. Highly recommended even in 2025.

So, if you've ever played Il-2 Sturmovik, Birds of Steel, or War Thunder before then you know what you're about to get into. This isn't a bad thing in my opinion if you are a fan of any of those games. I'm almost certain this is basically just Il-2 on the Xbox 360 under a different name. Again, not a problem if that's what you're looking for. If you haven't played any of those games, it can be anywhere in between a casual combat flying game and a hard core flight sim depending on your experience, gaming hardware and in game options setup.

Enough said. Just dont expect a super realistic sim.

Get a HOTA and tear it up. Perfect for refining your skills before moving onto IL 2 games and flights.

I've been having fun with this one! Fairly realistic controls, but not too simulation like for my tastes. Flying around and blasting planes out of the sky is a great time. Also supports widescreen displays!
