A fantastic collect-a-thon platformer

Windswept is a good ol' 2D platformer with great level design, a varied moveset and a whole load of things to collect. The gameplay is snappy and tight, and the levels are fantastic with so many things to find in them, which require you to figure out what string of moves you need to do in order to reach them. The game has fully rebindable controls, and also features modifiers to make the game as easy (infinite jump, invincibility) or hard (one-hit is game over, no checkpoints) as you want. You can even play the game co-op (locally) if you really wanted to similarly to the Sonic & Tails setup in the old Sonic games. There's no backtracking in this game as you don't gain moves as you progress, unlike Metroidvanias, you have everything straight away so if you can't figure out how to reach something, it's a knowledge gap rather than "I haven't progressed far enough" issue. Definitely recommended to any fans of 2D platformers and/or collect-a-thons!

A gorgeous and fun Collect-A-Kong

If you're a fan of the Donkey Kong Country games, you'll love this game. Levels are very fun in general, full of secrets (almost to a fault) and the controls are very nice. The artstyle is cute, and the music is excellent. It puts the official new DKC games to shame with its level variety and even the amount of content present in the game without it ever feeling like it drags on too much. Every bonus room is unique too like the classic games and most are pretty fun. Don't let the cute artstyle fool you, this game will become challenging pretty quickly, with secret world levels reaching to Celeste levels of difficulty. There are some accessibility features to help at least. The only drawbacks for me is that there's a fair bit of camera issues in the game, especially if you want to backtrack for a coin or something. It's a bit annoying how there's no overworld map either, you'd need to travel a long distance to get to a specific level to get an item you missed. Speaking of, records (for music tracks) and minigame cartridges aren't displayed on level progress, so you cannot use the in-game hints to find those. Besides maybe the camera, those are relatively nitpicks. It's all around a great game.

A wonderful gem

I enjoyed myself so much I strongly recommend this one if your a fan of the genre especially if you liked the DKC games Movement feels good, music is solid, level design is so well done this game is so well made im bad with words but I had to throw in a 5 stars Only word of warning is well honestly the game description sums it up perfectly its a hard game built like how the old games of the 90's were where trying again and again was the norm if your not a fan of that then you prolly won't enjoy the game as much It does have accessibility options to make the game easier or harder which I love ha I just wish it had some kind of lives system I could toggle on games like this just don't get the heart racing without it and collecting something like the Stars to get a 1up is something I always enjoyed even if was kinda irrelevant like in Sonic those games I treated how many lives I had by the end as a kinda high score Anyway games worth your time

Lovely game, hard stages but entertains

I love this platformer. I come from Yoshi's Island, the original SNES one, and from Donkey Kong, and Windswept captures the best of the two games I mentioned. Beautiful game, engrossing soundtrack, lovely characters. I love it all!
