What Remains of Edith Finch is a collection of strange tales about a family in Washington state.
As Edith, you’ll explore the colossal Finch house, searching for stories as she explores her family history and tries to figure out why she's the last one in her family left alive. Each story you find lets you experience the life of a new family member on the day of their death, with stories ranging from the distant past to the present day.
The gameplay and tone of the stories are as varied as the Finches themselves. The only constants are that each is played from a first-person perspective and that each story ends with that family member's death.
Ultimately, it's a game about what it feels like to be humbled and astonished by the vast and unknowable world around us.
Created by Giant Sparrow, the team behind the first-person painting game The Unfinished Swan.

..this game is an absolute brilliant story game!
Literally EVERYTHING in this game is perfect.. the graphics, the environment, the story itself, the characters.
Also there are so many elements in it that I have never seen in any other game before.
I just couldn't let go of this game so I played through in one 2,5h session!
An absolutely stunning experience and worth every cent!

My favourite stories are definitely Gregory, Lewis and Molly...
The end, criticised in some of the other reviews, creeps under your skin, even more than some of the other passages, and therefore is in my opinion a perfect match, an awesome end.
The only words that describe this game... tragically beautiful, indeed a true piece of art!
It's not a long experience, this game (just under two hours for me). It's also not a challenging one by any means. It is, however, an emotionally engaging and beautiful story brought to life by very talented developers. The art style is great, the world is detailed and intricate, the voice acting is excellent, and every laugh and tear along the way is well earned. I almost feel like this could adapt very well to film. As it stands, it will just have to stand as a testament to videogames as art.
This game is visually beautiful, the music and sound effects are amazing, the story is engaging with a superb pacing. Yes, it's a relatively short game and if you're looking for a challenge or any new gameplay mechanics, you might be better off looking elsewhere. If you want to experience a phenomenal piece of storytelling, don't hesitate one second. It's a brilliant piece of software.
First, let me say that this text is spoiler free. You should avoid spoilers at any cost for this game, as discovering the story will be a delightful experience. This is not a challenging game, where your objective is to overcome obstacles, and there is no way to fail or die. There are no puzzles, no enemies. In this title, you'll walk through a house, while you hear the story of the Finch family. What makes this title unique, is that it uses different gaming mechanics in favor of the narrative. It will make you experience it's world in different perspectives, through different views. It will create the perfect atmosphere for each moment. This approach to storytelling works extremely well, and it will make you feel, rather than passively observe as an spectator. Although short, this game is truly amazing. If you love stories - be it books, movies or any other media - you'll enjoy this game. If you're interested in new ways to experience video games, or creative ways to use gaming mechanics, you'll enjoy this title. If you're more into action or puzzles, well... Even you might enjoy this game, just don't expect to find any of this here. This game literally guides you through a scripted path. But it's a very enjoyable experience nonetheless.
