Description
The towering factory complex of Steeltown manufactures all the tech that keeps Colorado running and the Patriarch in power—trucks, armor, weapons, and robots. But deliveries from Steeltown have stopped cold, and all the Patriarch is getting from Abigail Markham—Steeltown's leader—are excuses. When he sends the Rangers to investigate, they find the place is a powder keg with the fuse already lit. The workers are striking, bandits raid with impunity, and nobody is allowed through the gates, not even on the business of the Patriarch. Without help, Steeltown could crash and burn for good, and take Markham with it—but maybe that's just what it needs. The Rangers will have to decide that for themselves.

Key Features
  • Traverse the Steeltown manufacturing complex alone or in co-op in this epic narrative expansion. Take on challenging new quests, face off against new robotic enemies, and solve the mystery at the heart of Steeltown however you see fit.
  • Tactical combat is taken to new heights with new mechanics like devastating telegraphed attacks, stacking status effects, elemental shields, and non-lethal weapons—letting you solve Steeltown’s skirmishes in brand new ways.
  • Combat and gear scaling means that both new and returning players can enter Steeltown during their playthroughs for a level-appropriate challenge, with a story and cast of characters that adapt to the decisions you’ve already made.
  • The Battle of Steeltown expands the base game with new enemies, weapons, armor, and world map encounters.
  • Music Supervisor Mary Ramos and Composer Mark Morgan return with original scores and new post-apocalyptic inspired covers.
  • The Battle of Steeltown expands the base game with new enemies, weapons, armor, and world map encounters.

Short and uninteresting

This DLC is just an additional area similar to the Bizarre, Aspen or Denver. A few ennemies and abilities/weapons were different, but still not game changing and limited to Steeltown. Stacking debuffs instead of stacking bullets in the head of ennemies is a bit more "difficult" but... not much, and not impactful. My experience after playing this DLC : - Some quests. - A disappointing "finale" where I got to fight some factions I already fought so many times during main quest. - Something like 4 hours to get through it. Main game was a hit I crowdfunded and happily played through multiple times, this DLC is not worth the 11.59€ I spent.

Any kind of level scaling defeat the purpose of an RPG. As you gain more power by any means available in a game, you actually can feel sense of accomplishment. It also gets you a challenge if you want to go on high risk, high reward missions to gain more powerful gear. Level scaling removes all that, while creating situations so laughable that some of them burned into my skull. Like having a level 3 and being grand champion in TES:Oblivion arena. It defeats the purpose of roleplaying... no... it defeats the purpose of playing a game at all.

Was Okay, Rebalance has Broken it

This is broken. If you hit Steeltown at a high level even on lower difficulties, like normal, the engagements become ridiculous Encounters seem to have been tooled with the assumption that every squad is optimized for only combat, and if you do not have max speed and strength you will be party wiped by every combat which you do not initiative. Just consider the fight between Crowe and Ludlow as an example of how poorly thought out these scenarios are. Despite years of contention and legitimate grievances against one another, if you attempt to arrest them both they will ignore each other and both sides focus on you and only you. If you choose a side, then the other will gain additional units while the allied party will lose assets. Enemies also have infinite deployable and useable items. Round two I had a full dozen 'summoned' dogs on my screen half of which they started with despite being nowhere in the cutscene or environment prior dialogue. It is as though someone is doing everything can to ensure any RP quality is stripped out of the game, Well they win. I had a lot of fun when I first played through this and now they have lost a fan.

MEDIOCRE!

Eh, not the greatest thing on earth to be sure. Feel like 3 stars might be a bit generous even. Gameplay gimmicks are a bit overused, the DLC seems to do its best to make you choose suboptimal outcomes and, unless I missed something, going for a fair and honorable solution of the DLC main quest actually forces you into worst outcome because the DLC suggest you can arrange a compromise, but then refuses all attempts at negotiating said compromise by default. Seems rushed and a bit under-developed, conflicts are pretty derivative of the main game, and doesn't really bring anything new to the table other than a few crafting recipes you can definitely live without,

Hope my money reaches devs, not Microsoft

Only buy this at full price if you are a die-hard Wasteland (3) Fan. The DLC is exactly the quality of the "base game" quests, not more and not less. I just hope most of my money reaches gog and inXile, not Microsoft. If not a die-hard Fan, wait for the Wasteland 3 GOTY 2022 and just play it "free" included in the complete game. You will not even notice this is a DLC then. Its not bad, but also not worth ~11+$. Lets hope the second and last announced DLC will hit a spot !
