Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

The game is an absolute blast early on but can be very unforgiving and seems to scale up in difficulty quite dramatically in sections. This can reduce the fun factor. At the recent deeply discounted price I absolutely recommend giving it a go. At the full price of AU$50 though, I would not.

As someone who already played Warhammer the boardgame as a child I was hooked again when I heard, that Space Marine 2 will come out this year. So I thought lets give this over a decade old game a shot and what can I say, Its awesome! (Personally I even think this is better than Boltgun, Gameplaywise) Yes its quite linear but thats not bad, you always know where to go don´t have to solve stupid puzzles, and are in the action for quite some time like 95% of the game is stomping heads in. After a while you don´t even witness the older graphics anymore because you look and move and shoot so badass that anything other gets irrelevant. Makes you really feel like you´re a Ultramarine.

It's a bit stupid that you cannot change some weapons (like plasma pistol back to bolt pistol) and it's a pity that you can't drive (or see) any ultramarines vehicles (Predator, Land Raider, Land Speeder etc ....) But nevertheless it's an really awesome Warhammer experience.

I've been a fan of Warhammer for a bit now. Played a majority of them on PS, and since Space Marine 2 is dropping soon, I wanted to play it, somehow got in without being spoiled on anything major. For a 2011-2012 game, its pretty good. I was able to play it in basically one sitting (eating breaks and all that jazz) It did exceptionally well in terms of performance, my laptop is not a gaming laptop and it out did itself. especially since its 11GB or so. I look forward to playing Space Marines 2, and I hope to see you all on the front lines, Marines. Accept Thy Burdens and fight for the Emperor!
