Hello Falran!
I bought this game led by the positive reviews of the others. That turned to be a mistake.
If you have never heard about this game before, there is simple explanation for it - it is so bad it does not deserve to be mentioned or remembered. It has nothing to do with StarCraft except there are aliens in it. In fact StarCraft is light years ahead compared to this game.
Let us ignore the outdated graphics - it's a quite old game, and focus on the game play. It's bad. It puts heavy emphasis on micromanagement and there is no AI to help you. Let's take Age of Empires for example. To produce a single unit you have to make two key presses or clicks: select a building and select the unit you want to build. In this game at least four clicks are required for a simple warrior. If you want to fully upgrade him that's 12 more clicks - 2 for every possible upgrade. You need a mage? That's 2 more clicks for every spell you need. Now imagine you want to build an army of 10 units. In AoE this is 3 clicks - select a building and shift click the unit you want. In this game there are at least 100.
OK let's say you want to gather some resources. You send your worker to chop some trees. In several minutes you may find your worker three screens away, because for some kind of reason they gather resources in a ray: they chop trees in some direction until they reach the end of the map, ignoring the fact there is plenty of resources near your base. And that's when your worker does not stop working for some unknown reason, although there is plenty of resources near him.
Another thing that one should not ignore is the way you control your units - the left click is for both selection of a unit and moving it through out the map. This is quite inconvenient and leads to a lot of unnecessary selecting of units when you want to move other units near them.
There are more annoying things in this game but these are some of the major ones. If you really want to try this game, wait for a discount.
