It scratches the Dungeon Keeper Itch

I've been playing the Dungeon Keeper games since the first one came out, and over the years, no matter how many times I'd played them, I always ended up coming back for more eventually. Now, it's War for the Overworld that I go to. The core gameplay is true to DK2 so old veterans will already know what they're doing, but with enough cool new stuff added on that it doesn't feel old and boring. I particularly appreciate how this game gives the options of micromanaging more things without requiring it, so, for example, if you want a door built right away you can pick up the crates and do it yourself, or cast a spell if your foundry is short on parts and you don't want to wait for more to be built, or set down a whole bunch of traps and doors and have your Cultists perform an evil ritual to finish them all at once.

Good game. Poor support.

Would like to give a better review since the game play is quite good. However the skirmish mode is still broken even after the many months the game has been out. I buy games like this for skirmish,so it has been money down the tubes for me.

Anodyne Dungeon Keeper game

The game is extremely linear and dull. Not challenging or rewarding at all. The campaign is short and unispiring. Most missions are resolved the same way to the point where it becomes almost a clicking simulator. There's a lot of useless stuff like unnecessary rooms, skills and spells you will never use and even creatures. The humor is bland, not too tryhard to be corny but it's just not funny at all. The posession spell is still clunky like Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 with the difference that the game is so boring at times and easy that you don't need to ever cast it. I see how PvP games might be more interesting if people know strategies to abuse certain mechanics better for the solo campaign is really boring.

Still too buggy to be enjoyable

I'm not sure where all those high ratings come from because I still find this too buggy to be enjoyable. Most importantly - when your creatures are in a fight, you can't pick additional creatures that are not in a fight from your panel because the "these creatures are involved in a fight" thing simply doesn't work. Most of the time, the creatures are in the category "other". One would also think that it's pretty simple to only play a certain phrase only ONCE, not repeatedly until you finally finish a level. Finally, I find it pretty annoying how regularly you get hit by enemy waves in this game. There is barely any time to simply explore and plan one's dungeon. And sometimes not even for your creatures to get food and payment. I guess if that "creature activity" panel actually worked, you could pick creatures that are idle to fight. But... that's simply not possible. And you can't even pause to study the HUGE skill/perk/whatever tree in peace! Who the hell thought that that is a good idea?!

A Great Successer

I will start off by saying the War for The Overworld is truly a great successor to Dungeon Keeper which was clearly the inspired by. When I first started the game up I was amazed of how much there is in the game. now in this version only one theme is a available but as a starting game it has a lot of meaningful content. I like the variety of creature and you can commit so much delicious evil. Mechanics in my personal opinion are the same as Dungeon Keeper but they have expanded it. it help that having the narrator from the original game. which I thing give this game more of its charm. finally the game is silly but a good kind, the kind that say the word its good to be bad.
