Like MUD, but way better
I missed this kind of "gameplay" You kids don't know this, but back in the day we had these text adventure games, like Zork. Everything was written, and we interacted with the world also by writing stuff. I liked it for two reason. It was cutting edge, and it also let me imagine everything. Some time later Zork returned as a visual adventure and it just wasn't what I expected. I had a different vision. Is Wanderlust like Zork? Yes and no. Yes, because it's a text-based game. No, because it's not about solving problems, but going from place to place, acting your way in certain situations. I don't think you can ever fail, but since it's about travels, it'd be strange to fail at vacation. What I really loved about it is what Zork gave me years ago: I felt like I'm there. The writing here is really good. And somehow I share the opinion that less is more. I prefer simple graphics to these new games where everythinig is rendered in 4K, because when the world is ALMOST real, every flaw is striking. But when it doesn't try to show EVERYTHING, then my mind fills the gaps. Thanks, Wanderlust, for letting me relive this. I don't suppose this is going to be a smash hit among the youngsters, but need more games like this. I need them.
