Average game cashing in on the 1st one

It's a game good enough to follow the fate of Clementine, the protagonist so far, but it wasn't executed well: the writing is average at best, with a lot of inconsistencies (dialogues ignore some of your decisions and are sometimes random) and implausible behaviour of characters. It's similar to the Michonne game with the difference that in the latter there were at least a lot of characters who were well developed. And then again, their behaviour was much too often unbelievably stupid - I know it is a typical feature of TWD productions, series included, because it allows characters to be killed more easily and makes up for poor writing skills/ideas of screenwriters, but the result is that suspension of disbelief is not always a thing. A typical example is that zombies are not noticed even in open spaces until the very last moment, and then quicktime events follow, of course. In this game we are Javier most of the time and Clementine is just a co-character/companion that apparently you are supposed to influence somehow for future production(s)?, looking at the summing up of what Clementine has become in the story at the end of the game. I wonder if it influencea her decisions in the final season, but I doubt so, knowing Telltale. She herself is not very believable in this game in that the makers decided to make her a badass, which does not seem very plausible, when you think about it, even if we assume that she has acquired some good survival skills. She is too young for many of the actions she performs. Dialogue system is poor, again, as certain dialogue options give you dialogue lines that make no sense in relation to your pick. I restarted certain checkpoints several times after I got a surprisingly idiotic reaction from my character. In this game there is no option to "rewind" episodes to previous checkpoints - once you have gone past another one following the choice you are considering to change, you have to restart the whole episode to change your decision.

Really good Telltale experience

Well, after finishing the final chapter, I would love to play season 4. I am satisfied with this game, for it was worth the money. However, I experienced some glitches during the gameplay of the final episode. Also the characters sometimes act strangely. I still consider Season 1 and 2 better games, but when the next season comes out, I'm buying it. Javier is a solid protagonist, but I still feel like playing as Clementine in the next installment. Should you be not decided, don't hesitate and buy A New Frontier. It is a TellTale standard and a thrilling game as well.

Less interactive but still fun for fans.

Even less interactive than seasons 1 and 2. A lot more sitting back and watching different scenes play out with quick-time events. Less walking around...and the sets felt smaller when you do get to walk around in many places. So in this case it was kind of a bummer. However... The graphics are better...and the writing still isn't bad. I liked the characters here despite the mixed feedback of this season. The pacing was solid with a decent sense of closure for this "chapter" in this game series. I bought this game on sale and don't regret my purchase. People looking for serious gameplay or puzzles won't find it here. This is a leisurely game that builds tension through the story...not the gameplay. As long as you're okay with this I think you'll have a decent time with this one as I did. It does tie into the first two seasons in a few spots. Not necessary to enjoy this season but it definitely helps. I don't recommend anyone starting here though. Seasons 1 and 2 are cheaper and frankly are better experiences overall. As a big fan of this series...and as a casual adventure gamer I give this game a strong "C+". Maybe a solid "B" for people who enjoy interactive stories, rather than hardcore point-and-click adventure games.

Intresting change

Well... I have to be honest I didn't knew what to expect. The episodes were much shorter than the previus ones, and that's why the story itself was short too. However I loved to get to know with Xavi, he became quite a fav for me. Clementine... well I felt sorry I couldn't play her anymore only in backflashes. I kinda didn't like her in this season, though in the second she was much more complex. The graphics still good, the story.... was pretty different. I liked the family drama and loved that love triangle. But still felt this empty.

Not quite as good as S1, but has bugs

Personally, I felt this wasn't quite as good as Season 1, but better than Season 2. If you've never played a Telltale game before, what you should know is that it plays more like an interactive movie than a game, so if you are ok with a game that is 90% cut-scenes but has a good story and just enough gameplay to make it still kinda feel like you're playing a game, this might be a good game for you. However, unlike the first two seasons this one has a TON of graphical glitches that I found to be really distracting and really harmed the immersion. Here is a list of the ones I remember: The lines around the characters tend to pop in and out a lot Often I would see random lines spanning across the scene The aliasing is really terrible (even with AA on), especially with the Depth of Field The Depth of Field is really distracting and often doesn't seem to quite focus correctly a lot of the time A lot of objects (especially the zombies) stutter a lot while moving Shadows cast on the characters tend to flicker in and out of existence Sometimes facial animations will also stutter This, combined with it nagging you to get a Telltale account every other time you load the game and its shameless self-advertising of other Telltale games at the end of every episode did color my impression of this game, but once you get down to the actual content, which is the story, I feel they did a really good job. I liked the characters, the drama was well done like in S1, and really my only gripe is their over-use of flashbacks, which not only do I find kinda annoying from a storytelling standpoint, but it also makes the decisions you make kinda weird, as some decisions you make in the flashbacks you would think would have effected things differently before the flashback in the "present day" story. However, I feel overall the flashbacks were done tastefully enough that they didn't come close to ruining the overall experience.
