Ancient Memories

This is a game I had completely forgotten even existed. As I kid, I jumped on it because I thought the Monkey Island games were incredibly cool - Vodoo Kid was one of the extremely few point and click games that I was actually able to finish without a guide, even though I barely spoke English at the time. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece by any standard, but it's a cute little game for kids that won't give you too much frustration.

Only for hardcore point-and-click fans

It's a very short voodoo and pirate-themed adventure game. I finished it in ~2 hours. The game has a story that doesn't really matter, oldschool 3d art and animations, simple puzzles, voice acting and attemps at humorous dialogue. Ultimately the reason I didn't enjoy the game is that it's obviously heavily oriented towards kids. This shows in the game's difficulty, in voice acting and the dialogues. It's like watching a cartoon from your childhood: you may have found it delightful when you were a kid, but now it is just bland. I would recommend this game only to hardcore adventure game fans who want to experience as much of the genre as they can. For adults this game will be boring and forgettable, and for kids there are better options out there in 2022.

Okay game

Voodoo Kid is a kid-edgy pirate-themed point n click game, made to seem spooky but in reality really isn't. The story is pretty simple; you somehow end up on a ghost ship and you need to defeat the evil Baron to free the imprisoned souls. You get help by the Baron's butler who shows up at various occasions as you move around the ship. The gameplay is very standard for a point n click adventure, with a few mini games here and there. The graphics are very late 90s with FMV-usage and grainy Myst-like rendering. The soundtrack is nothing to call home about, but it does its job without being annoying or repetitive. Overall, perhaps not a recommendation but if you want to spend an hour or two with a pretty simple point n click - this would probably be it. There's a different character (a girl) that you can play as well, but I only played the boy. As far as I know there are only dialogue differences, otherwise the game should be the same.
