Harsh but rewarding
Easily get annihilated at the beginning, but then it clicks. Water levels are gonna do what they do, however...

"Easy" Game
Graphics: Indeed a nice and smooth pixel based game. Difficulty: Yup, prepare to die (a lot, a alot, alot alot...). Should I buy it and get angry as hell? For sure!

So punishing yet so entertaining!
I'm by far not the best with these old school games. I have been playing Völgarr for last 4-5 days, must have spent at least 20 hours on it and only finished 2 worlds and one level in the third so far, but... I love it! Once you get to master each level, you get this incredibly satisfying feeling that you'll hardly feel in modern games, because when you reach for Völgarr for the first time, you WILL die! Very early on, perhaps in the first 30 seconds. And then again, and again, and again... but very often you will get just a little further, and further... and that's just worth going on. The game controls are very simple, but don't be fooled... Try to play yourself and then take a look at youtube, search for a video of speedrun of the first world (2'38"... incredible!!) If you don't mind dying and want to try some real old school tough as a nail but fair and precise platformer, go for Völgarrrrrrrrr the VIKIIIIIING!!!!

Love it! love everything about it!
The toughness! It's ingeniously built, and every detail is very well thought of. It only took me about 30 something deaths to stop loving the guy's death and rise again, a total BADASS! the game play is action packed, and full of enemies, but to prevail, you must learn it's rythem and surroundings to prevail. It's provocative, and THAT'S what I love about it! that's the 90's SEGA genesis / Arcade kinda thing that makes me love games like Kid Chameleon, VectorMan, Comix Zone, and the likes.
