Dying is part of the game. You need to avoid terror at all costs, as dark entities are attracted to it. Maintaining your mind as sane as possible will keep you from joining the ranks of the dead. Doing so will not be easy, and you'll have to figure out ways, like staying in the light, to avoid going insane.

Environment
The game is set inside a huge house in which terrible things have happened. You’ll wander through the gloomy corridors, explore every dead room, and get lost in endless mazes, your head filling with memories of the dead families that once lived in this very home. This twisted environment, void of any life other than yours, takes you to places you couldn't even bear imagining.Storyline
This house is stained with a terrible past. Families were brutally murdered by their own family members, people went insane, many committed suicide, and other grisly events occurred. Each and every room has its story painted on an invisible canvas. As a player, you will relive parts of this dark past, and each of its fragments will leave you restless and terrified. You’ll soon wish you could join the dead's ranks in their abyss, but death won't help you leave this place. Will you run from it, or will you try to uncover the truth behind the shadows?Dark entities
The families that died in the house will haunt you and leave you restless. They’ll follow your every move, watch you from every corner, play tricks with your mind, and try to attack you. Why do they haunt you? What have you done? This you have to find out on your own.Gameplay

Visage is one of the most terrifying games I've ever played, full stop, but it's not going to be for all horror fans. The game's perplexing puzzles, convoluted story, and rough edges will turn off some, but if you can stick it out, there's a good chance it will eventually sink its hooks into you. Good horror can take time to process, and I believe Visage's dark presence will only grow with time.

Visage is close to being of the best horror games of recent years, but it's held back by some annoying aspects. The inventory controls are awkward, there were still a few bugs that prevented me from interacting with the environment, and the chapters are far too uneven, with the third being particularly bad. That being said, if you are prepared to work through these issues there is a lot of spooky fun to be found here and it is more than just jump scares for streamers (although there are plenty of those). With a little more polish and a better third chapter, this could have been an essential purchase. Instead, Visage is somewhat haunted by the spectre of what might have been.

Disappointed
I got literal chills during some of the game, but the controls were bad and some of the puzzles were too hard. Overall, I was more frustrated than scared. If you're like me, and you're into the horror genre, then give it a try.

Pixel-Hunt Walking Sim
A lot of people like this game. A lot of people like the film "Paranormal Activity". If you are the kind of smoothbrain who thinks a door opening is spooky or a light switch switching is scary, this is right up your alley and you can disregard my review. This game is a pixel hunt walking simulator. The main 'difficulty' comes from having to explore every nook and cranny of a quite large house to find necessary items - often with no clue of what you are even looking for. They are often well hidden so it is akind to pixel hunting in a 2D game. The bad: The only enemies are invulnerable and chase you around while you try to find stuff. You 'run' away from these enemies to avoid dying, but you can't go faster than a slow walk in the house (even holding the 'run' button). So, all enemies are defeated by casually strolling away. Wow, scary. There are no puzzles - there are set pieces which appear to be puzzles, but you are always given the answer. Where is this answer? On a piece of paper or similar that you have to find. It's not actually psychological horror. It relies entirely on jumpscares, from the minor (lights turning off) to the major (things popping out at you). There is some disturbing imagery, but without a context it's meaningless. Speaking of context, there is minimal story. Ironcially, given that the whole game is walking around looking for things, environmental storytelling isn't used much, it's all traditional cutscenes and recorded tapes. At no point did I care about what was going on. The good: Spooky atmosphere Some cool set pieces Pretty graphics The limited story is interesting The chapters are better than the house exploring I would strongly advise having a walkthrough on hand, to save you the pain of searching for stuff. This is the only game I have played in my life where I would suggest this. If you are a diehard fan of horror pick it up on sale and have a look. They were trying to make something good. Otherwise, skip.
