Visually stunning puzzle platformer

Vesper is a game about poor little being carrying the burden to save the remnants of his race. This journey will take him through a dying planet full of traces of the past life, life of cybernetic humanoid-like creatures. We will be witnessing traces of wars, cataclysms, uncovering a bit about threir social structure and so on through the logs, holograms and other visual evidence, solving puzzles along the way to meet our goal. First let me tell you that the screenshots cannot convey how beautiful the game really is. Looked at them on store myself and wasn't really convinced (another limbo-esque platformer) but decided to try the demo, witnessed the game in motion covered by a very nice ambient and it really clicked for me. If you're up to contemplative, drawn by hand games this might feel as one of the visual masterpieces for you. As for the puzzles, 80-90% of them are pretty intuitive but not too easy, i was solving most of them on the go which in my opinion is a pretty good design. Not being a fan of the puzzle platformers (FPS first and foremost) i was stuck only 2-3 times one of which was realy hard but good timing and thinking straight helped me out. The job of being a puzzle platformer game does pretty well. In summary, if you're a fan of the jenre, i higly recommend this title. Yeah, i have 182 games and only one review and that's because it saddens me a lot that the game people poured so much heart into has got almost no attention, so i'm at least decided to try to convince even a small group of people to play it. Just consider to try the demo and support the developer if you want. Thanks for reading and sorry for my english.

Hollow Android

I loved Limbo. I love stealth. I always have a platformer in progress - in short, I'm the target audience. The graphics are wallpaper worthy, and the overall atmosphere of empty, postapocalyptic remains of an android civilisation is enhanced by slow pacing and occasional switching to a very far-off camera to depict vast, lifeless locations. It is certainly among the most atmospheric side scrollers I played. I can't comment on the story, as it is told by collectible journal entries (snippets of messages between pre-apocalypse robots) and, despite generally being on the lookout, I found maybe one third of them, so all I was able to piece together is that there was/is some kind of virus-like 'light' (not much of a spoiler. There are apparently multiple entries, as I clearly got the 'bad' one, but, again, I haven't a slightest idea where the branching points were, and I didn't feel like I made a single decision. I understand the design choice of making resolving the mystery difficult, perhaps requiring repeated playthroughs, the problem is that the gameplay is hollow. While huge, hollow locations can be explained by the theme and focus on the atmosphere, together with very sluggish movement (not a problem in itself for me, as it again emphasises your vulnerability), they come also as padding what is a rather short game. Level design is completely uninspired and looks like something a 10 year old could come up with (as, oftentimes, it's basically black solid ground vs red/green/blue background), the puzzles obvious, platforming posing no challenge at all except for one or two timed races were you need to demonstrate perfect, split-second timing. There are just three enemy types, and the whole thing felt like going through the motions, where most of my deaths came from impatience rather than the difficulty. I really wanted to like it, but I play games for gameplay, and I am sure I would enjoy it overwhelmigly more as an animated film - even with its slow pacing.

Puzzle-Adventure of great impact!

This game was really a pleasant surprise! It is a puzzle/adventure with platforming elements featuring a unique and striking visual style. The narrative part is proponderante in the experience, the plot is intriguing and is told in a silent way, a bit 'Dark Souls-Style' to be clear, so you have to pay close attention to what happens around you and deepen the codecs scattered around the map to get to fully understand the story. The gameplay is simple and immediate, perhaps a bit rindonante in some stages, and a second run is practically mandatory to understand the story, but personally I would have added some extra touches of gameplay and not just new portions of story to encourage replayability. The sound compartment, as well as the direction, is really surprising for a title so small and a fledgling development studio, I'm very curious to see what they can do in the future. The game, however, at this price is really a must buy for all lovers of puzzle/adventure or simply for those looking for a sci-fi title with great atmosphere.
