It made me cry
What a heartfelt story about family and growing up as an immigrant. I could relate to so many of Kavin's experiences. Great game!

Venba is a narrative cooking game about family, love, and loss. Play as Venba, a South Indian immigrant mother connecting with her son through the language of food. It is a short and sweet cinematic experience that you can enjoy in a 1 to 2-hour sitting

Idlis, dosas, and biriyani! Whether you’re a new or regular enjoyer of South Indian cuisine, there’s something delectable to discover Venba's cooking puzzles. As you piece together a tattered recipe book, cook authentic dishes inspired by real-life cuisines. Once you've cooked them in-game, try cooking them in real life with the brand-new in-game Cookbook!
As you restore lost recipes, discover the story of a family over the years as they grow and change through a journey of love and loss. Join a mother, father, and their son as they reckon with culture, self-discovery, and acceptance.
Move over lo-fi beats! Cook along to Venba's unique original soundtrack, inspired by Tamil music throughout the ages. And when you can't get enough, return to the newly-added in-game radio to listen to the OST on-demand!
Venba's warm, stylized art brings the game's food and story to life! So good you can almost taste it.

Heartwarming story with food
It’s a short, beautifully written visual novel with food as a character and some cooking mini‑games. The love poured into it really shines through—highly recommended!

My heart 😭
I thought this would just be a cute cozy game, but it stabbed me right in feels. OUCH! The story is great, though you may cry your friggin eyes out. Art was stellar. The gameplay was ok, but I wish the dishes required a little more skill to cook. Gameplay with a controller wasn't the best, but it was serviceable enough. It's a short game, but if you can get it at a reasonable price it's worth playing. Plus it comes with recipes for the food you cook in the game!!

Short, grounding, and somber.
The art and animations are beautiful (I love this art style), and the gameplay and story is short and sweet. If you're a second generation immigrant, especially from a South Asian background, you'll find some if not all the recipes and ingredients familiar, and you'll appreciate the sacrifices and risks your family (and other immigrants!) take to create a better life for their families. Gameplay is simple, and the story isn't happy-go-lucky. Maybe this makes you feel the story and sacrifices more. Would recommend, especially if you're Tamil or just Indian, part of a disapora, and/or want to explore the food and ingredients of a different culture. Again, it's super short, so it's not a big time commitment so give it a chance if you can :)
