Vampire the masquerade redemption

Omg I have loved this game for years and have been looking for years to find it. I finally did one day and bought it from amazon for thirty eight dollars. Well it gets here and it turns out you have to have a lower operating system to install it. I was so pissed. Its not compatiable with Windows Vista. I go online and find it here and on here it can be played with my system and not only that but I found it for the best price I have ever saw. The quality and graphics are great. No problems. Another thing... If gog.com rewrote it for the higher operating systems, thanks so so very much! Fantastic job. Much appriciation. Again Thanks :) -Chris Snyder (Indiana)

Old but not so Good Game.

This game was soo close to be eternall classic of all times. Some nasty bugs prevented it. Firstly i played GoG version 1.1 and installed mod "Age of redemption 2015" which was supposed to make all things better. As far as i can tell it didn't. Dissapointer number one is retarded AI. It's obviously hardcoded because modders were not able to repair it. The party characters don't spare any inventory items even if instructed to do so with option "use only quick slots". The same for using disciplines. Second annoyer is path finding. Party members are notoriously blocking each other. To make it worse the AI is constantly converting enemies to party side even if told not to so by removing disciplines from quick bar. Once theese temporary party members even feeded on my characters to death! I managed to finish the game only by lowering difficulty with mod - without it it's frustratingly hard in negative way. The keys are also not remapable and defaults sucks. The map navigation is annoying - no position marker. I don't understand all the 5-star reviews. Other than that there is outstanding plot and voice acting. Many new games lack such good storyteling and atmosphere. Although visuals/sounds are old, theese are immersing me better then in many current productions. It could have been sooo much more...

annoying little brother

Bloodlines is one of the greatest RPGs to date. So one would figure that Redemption is at least a decent game. Unfortunately, there are so many things annoying with this game that you need to be a diehard fan of the bloodline universe to play this game for more than a few hours. The click-where-you-want-to-go works well with Diablos 2D map, but not with Redemptions staircases and pillars. If you click to close, you will crawl to that point. Of course you can prevent that by using the 3rd mouse key or shift, but why make it so complicated? The crawl does not do anything and just makes the ui more annoying. This way your avatar will just stand around stupidly becaus you clicked a wall or yourself instead of walkable ground or an enemy hiding behind you. It helps to reposition the camera, but this kind of struggle against the controlls instead of the enemies just gets pointless quickly. You can replentish your blood by biting lonely struggelers like in bloodlines? Great. Unfortunately the nightguards have x-ray vision and 12/10 hearing and come running form two blocks away if you do. So now one guard is hostile. No problem, right? Kill him and be done with it. Wrong. They are also telepathic beings, and will be hostile forever. All of them. And unless you manually set your entire party to defensive stand, they will attack every human, even beggars and women. Got stuck in some dungeon? Probably missed a small pressure plate on the ground somewhere. Fun! Critical hits do an enormous amount of damage. Sometimes you one-hit-kill an oponent, next time the same kind of opponent takes 30 seconds plus to kill because you barely hit it, and lets you survive with but a drop of blood left. And while the graphics of Bloodlines still hold up, our Redemption hero hobbles through the game like a rabbit in slowmotion. And yes... maybe the quality of writing makes up for it all. Not the quality of writing of the first 5 hours, and not compared to Fallout or Planescape, but... maybe

Certainly not bad

Okay it's a solid story with lots of lovely powers and options, and as a vampire the masquerade fan- I like how they've done a story for vampire which isn't EMO It is however, a little cheesy, several powers are very easy to exploit, and there arn't a lot of RP choices. However, i bought it played it, through and probably will again.

A clasic that stands the test of time.

I remember bying this game when it first came out. It still satnds as one of the best story baised RPGs i've ever played. While a lack of side quests is lamentable, the story driven main line is superb. Yes it has a couple of bugs and glitches, but i honestly can not remember a game form this time that didn't have a couple. Its a game i've completed several times, and revisited again and again, and probably will do for years to come. Graphicly, it looks a little old, but not as old as other games from the time, abd the characters grip you through out. They are well written, and very well voice acted. If another game like this one came along, i'd be throwing money at it, but alas, as it isn't an openworld 1st person RGP adventure action game, i doubt we will...
