Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

I purchased this game at release, 2004. Didn't get to finish it due to gamebreaking bugs. Then other titles wanted my attention, so I never got to finish this game, until now. From what I remeber, it was a good roleplaying game, and my memory almost served me correct. It's actually fantastic! Well, except maybe for the combat. Others have written better rewievs than this one. I'll just add this little text along with the five stars. Oh, and also. Don't keep the game on auto update if you're using Galaxy. I did, and when the game updated some areas didn't work properly. I tried rollback to an older patch, which worked for a while. Then it became unplayable. All that's was left to do was to start over, after 15 hours! However, it's such a good game, that starting from the begining after 15 hours didn't bother me at all.

This is a masterpiece and a benchmark that all RPG games should be measured against. Absolutely phenomenal! My recommendation is to absolutely buy it; you may love it like I do. The reasons to buy this game are endless. It feels unbelievable that there was so much packed into this game. It must have been developed by people who loved it and were overworked. You get to be a badass vampire in the World of Darkness doing badass vampire stuff, and you get to do it your way! The bad is that there are constant bugs, at times it breaks the game. However, you get past that because of how interesting the game is. The other bad part is it goes on a little too long. The game is maybe 15% or 20% too long, maybe....I don't know. It feels like they ran out of steam developing it. I held off buying this game for a long time, because of how lame some of it's partisans sounded. However, I was 100% wrong, because this game is a giant. It is worth every single penny you pay for it and will leave you feeling struck with awe.

It has bugs and clunky combat, but the atmosphere and writing put it up as one of the best RPGs I ever played and I'm saying that as a new player with no nostalgia attached to it.

This game is simply amazing. I got into it because of my love of vampire and werwolf games and let me say that I would whole-heartedly buy this game if it was 60. Not to mention shout out to gog for updating their games so you don't have to go through all these different files just to play the game. Yes I know there's a more up to date version but at the same time I like the ease of being able to download and play a game instantly. You can literally sink years into this game and still feel fresh after every playthrough which honestly can't be said by a lot of games. So the question is would you buy it? (Most likely.) Would you refund it? Why would you want to?

An incredible journey, beginning to end. The story and the characters are the bread and butter of this game, with everyone (even to minor characters) being memorable for days after beating the game. It's one of the old guard of roleplaying games that fit in that perfect space between CRPG and modern RPG. This is a must-play game before you die for any RPG geek out there, there's nothing like it. And unfortunately, after the credits roll, you'll be yearning for Bloodlines 2 -- which at this point... may never see the light of day. But that's okay, because this game has some incredible replay value and I look forward to my next playthrough.
