Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

Having had a few false starts on this game for the past year and finally sticking to it and completing the game - wow. It shows age through its combat - I had input problems firing weapons with my mouse - but voiceacting, story, and the RPG elements make up for it hundredfold. I can definitely see myself playing through the story and quests again - and again and again and again - you get it. The options offered through the clan you select at the beginning of the game, along with the choice of which skills you can strengthen, completely change the gameplay and approach from character to character. I played with Wesp's patch and only encountered a few crashes, which is pretty good for such an extensive RPG. Anyhow, as someone who has never been fond of vampire-related stories or locations, this game captivated me like few others have managed to do.

I don't want to take to long to write a review because it will cut into my available playing time. But this is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I'm using the unofficial plus patch as recommended by some of the reviews, and it's a great choice.

This game truly is remarkable and probably is one of the best games I ever played. The ambiance emanating from that game is unique, the storyline, the dialogs, the music makes it a very immersive RPG. The fact that the graphics of the game can be upgraded makes you wonder if you really played an old game since the plot and games mechanics reach near-perfection.

With all its issues and bugs (Thanks Activision for sabotaging the developers, you disgusting mongrels), this game still manages to be one of the best games ever created. It simply manages to tap into everything a good game should be. It provides a unique setting, an engaging story, massive replay value and, above all, it offers fun. In short, not playing this game is equivalent to shooting yourself in the foot. Dont shoot yourself in the foot :)
