Awesome Game
Great game that feels like Battle Brother's more forgiving, bleaker, more supernatural cousin with an extra dose of character development (in terms of character stats and special abilities). Between all the classes, all the races, the equipment, the mutations and emerging character traits, you'll have enough customization options to create your dream party of unstoppable killing machines... and this is mostly what the game is about. Don't get me wrong, there are some tactics in there (and that will make a difference in some key battles), but at the end of the day, the makeup of your party is what will make or break you. If you're into that, you'll love this game and if you aren't, go to the next one. The game is moderately forgiving in the sense that if you characters fall in battle, they'll get injured (and will require time to heal) and they'll only permanently die the next time they fall. So, you'll probably want a backup roster of characters which are still 'awesome enough' to replace your injured members while they heal. Also, that mechanic got an rpg layer to it, because if your characters get injured enough, they'll get a special trait to toughen them up. However, getting injured requires some special material to heal (that is not in unlimited supply) so you can't overdo it. Otherwise, each level consists of a grid of checkpoints, each one leading to an encounter. You'll get the best events the first time you go through the level (special characters, champions, great equipment), although you can grind and still get pretty food stuff with random spawning events afterwards (you decide when you've had enough and want to go to the next level, you can totally grind things to death and be overpowered if you want to or otherwise go to the next level early to have more of a challenge). As you can see from the screenshots, the combat for the game is serviceable: Nice, bleak-looking, stylish graphics. Running out of characters. Great game. Play it.
