Unrest

A wonderful game that will strike a chord with anyone who enjoyed the old isometric rpgs. A lot of breadth for role-playing, a lot of choices that built up to a climatic conclusion. It's short but well worth it. Playing as several characters throughout the story lets you get several perspectives on the central conflict and allows for you to take actions that other rpgs simply wouldn't let you, even death becomes part of the unfolding story. This game is focused tightly on the dialogue. There's a good system that helps you to gauge the effect of what you're saying on the person you're talking too. I feel they could have done a little more with this, it's rare that an NPC is around long enough for their slowly shifting attitude to have much effect, but it's good for conveying the character of the NPCs.

I could repeat what I've said about the special edition but instead I'll just say two things... First, this version of the game is even less interesting than the special edition, and I think the special edition should be free to play on Kongregate (some games on that site are much better than Unrest, and much longer, and they are free to play) Second, what the hell is that thing doing on GOG? It's neither good nor old, why bring unknown games on GOG? We have over 20 years of Good old games to go through (not counting those that appeared in the last few years, not old enough) and they put that thing? Sure, it's much better than 1849 (or whatever it's called, a piece of junk that should never have been added on GOG), but it's still not a good and even less old game. Please, GOG, stick to GOOD OLD GAMES! Let Steam get stuck with crappy or very ordinary games instead of you and keep your money to buy licenses of GOOD and OLD GAMES... otherwise, might as well change your name to STEAM B... :(
