Welcome to UNDERTALE, an RPG game where you don't have to kill anyone. Each enemy can be "defeated" nonviolently. Dance with a slime. Pet a dog. Whisper your favorite secret to a knight.
Or, ignore this choice and rain destruction upon your foes.
But your journey will take determination. Each adversary has unique bullet patterns that you must dodge as well (don't worry, it's not that hard).
Killing is unnecessary: negotiate out of danger using the unique battle system.
Time your attacks for extra damage, then dodge enemy attacks in a style reminiscent of top-down shooters.
Soulful, character-rich story with an emphasis on humor.
Created mostly by one person.
Become friends with all of the bosses!
At least 5 dogs.

I had really good time while playing this game. The game offered extremely good story with great, characters with personality. The game breaks the forth wall, and offers some humorous moments. Unique experience makes this game very memorable.
Mixing RPG elements, wonderful soundtrack, Underground, and of course one of the best stories in video game industry, it becomes a game to play before you die.

The game is great (currently playing it on steam) but when I tried to play it on my computer with linux mint I couldn't get it to run, it was easier to refund it and buy it on steam where I was able to get it running without problems as well as being able to go back to a previous version to be able to Applying a translation patch quite easily, so I can tell that this game is already unplayable on linux via gog since it seems to use libraries that don't exist anymore. I would have liked to have it in gog and be able to play it without incident, but the platform doesn't seem to be interested in linux.
It's really good, but not AS good as some people make it out to be.
This game has great gameplay, a nice story, and the characters are memorable. The music is ok, though some tracks are just meh.
However, that's where the good things stop, for this game has its fair share of problems. The visuals look bad in some places. Some people will tell you that "It's the style of the game" as an excuse, but the reality is some places look inconsistent. It's really weird going from a highly detailed enviroment to one that looks like it was drawn by a five year old.
The puzzles are too simple and far between. The whole tutorial (Or should i say Tutoriel?) revolves around puzzles... But they're never touched again in the game until much, much later. And when they do throw some puzzles at you, they're too simple. This is somewhat remedied by the fact that battles in themselves are kind of like puzzles, but it still comes off as lazy.
The game is far too linear for an RPG, you quite literally just go from point A to B to C and hardly ever revisit any places. And on top of that, the game is too short, like 5 hours long. 10 if you do multiple playthroughs.
Still, i feel like the positives far outweight the negatives, which is why i gave it 4 stars. And can we talk about how cool it is that they didn't just resort to giving bosses ridiculously long healthbars as a way of artificially making them hard? The challenge in this game comes from actually figuring out how to beat each boss. I wished more RPGs did that.
Undertale is the story about a human kid who goes down into a world of monsters and traverses among this secret kingdom. The graphics are simple but iconic, and the equally iconic music is some of the best modern Chiptunes around. The characters are extremely memorable, and they have unique character development based on the actions you take during the game, mostly decided through combat, but the game has a few tricks outside of combat as well. Choices you make are referenced throughout the entire game, creating a very flexible narrative. Some of your actions are surprisingly permanent, though you might not realize at the time. However, do not let the narrative heavy design let you think this is a straight up RPG. No, it is a Bullet Hell game that will test your reaction time and reflexes. The hardest path, which I STRONGLY advise you NOT to take, is extremely demanding. I'm by no means any sort of fan of Arcade Shooters and Bullet Hell, but the oodles of charm and delight of the Pacifist path kept me playing until the end. However, now that everyone has the best possible happy ending, I just can't bring myself to play this game anymore. Please, just let the characters of Undertale have a happy ending. Please don't hurt anyone. Just play the game and be good. 4/5.
