Description
Prepare yourself for a grand adventure! Ultima™ IV, sixteen times larger than Ultima™ III, is a milestone in computer gaming. Lord British has produced a game to challenge not only your physical and mental skills, but the true fabric of your character.

The evil triad of Mondain, Minax, and the hellspawn Exodus have been vanquished and peace reigns throughout the land of Britannia. Evil yet abounds, but in isolated pockets and in the hearts of men. A new age awaits the coming of one who can conquer evil on all frontiers through mastery of both magic and the use of force. Daemons, dragons, and long-dead wizards still plague the countryside and must be destroyed. The seeker on the path of the Avatar will face hostile groups composed of mixed enemy types and will survive such encounters only by strategic use of weapons and terrain. Earthly victories over seemingly impossible odds lead to the final conflict, where the ultimate challenge - the self - awaits.

Revered by creators and players alike

This game shattered what people thought a computer RPG could and should do, and inspired not only the future generations of RPGs in the west, but also the japanese took the player involvement Ultima IV offered to heart. The series continued to kick in doors all the way to VII (and some would say VIII,) but this is where it really took speed and astounded everybody. I award it only four only because even for it's time, it was not a particularly easy game to play, nor a particularly impressive feat graphics/sound wise.

THE game that started it all.

A seminal RPG classic. The birth of a genre. I remember how immensely challenging this game was back in the old days before you could just look up every answer on the internet.

No games have aged worse

This game was probably one of the greatest games of all time when it was released, it certainly had the greatest video game story of all time when it was released. While it’s story is probably still up there, the game play has aged horribly. The controls are extremely obtuse and game in general is very confusing. It was probably not considered so at the time of the release, but it is by today’s standards. This is a game that is very hard to get into. Instead of just having an action button, they opted to have and “open” button, a “talk” button and so on.

Classic But Old

Frankly, this is a game one would love on a DOS system in 90s ; but it has surely aged. Not the graphics, not the story but the controls are so old school that even remastering them is quite a task (took me minutes to remember "F" was fire, not fight). Still, worth a download if only to read the manual :-)

You will NEVER finish it

I played RPG since 1982 ... You can say Witcher 3 is a great game I agree but NOW Ultima IV : this game is a fucking legend it is by a very large proportion , the more difficult , challenging and truly amazing story which have been ever written ... so far The good news it will be very difficult to find any clues online those days and even you find it don't use it th is game is about a challenge I think perhaps 1000 people in the world finish it I bet than ANYONE TODAY ...cannot finish this game , it is SO difficult, you have to get the whole picture of the adventure if you are ready to take 100 pages of notes, and spend at least 200 hours perhaps you will finish it and find the codex .. perhaps , I guess 99 % of the gamers will NOT SUCCEED this game is HELL to finish You don't even know what to do in the beginning , you begin to understand perhaps after 20 hours, you get the difficulty and the subtile scenario after 30 hours and you will say , WTF this game is UNIQUE , a pure jewel, and then you want to finish it and then you will get stuck for days, months ... after that play ultima 6 and 7 . Good luck to the true RPG lovers if you like "find the treasure" , "find the castle" , "kill the monster" ... PLEASE AVOID
