A Good DLC

First of all: This is quite a good and entertaining DLC and I am glad that the developers keep this game alive and not only made Call of the Tenebrae but also plan to release one mode DLC for called Shattered Embrace. And they also have plans for Two Worlds III which I am already looking forward to. Now, for the "gory bits": For all the players who verbally abused and humiliated the developers on Steam and elsewhere: You should be ashamed of yourself! The in-game shop is nothing but a convenience store for players who are just too damn lazy to play the game and collect loot. To be very clear about this: You do not need to buy *anything* from the in-game store because any single item there can be found inside the game. So just ignore it, for Christ's sake! Also, the command console, though missing for just two days, is back in the game. So, now, fellow gamers: Please give the devs a break! Two Worlds II is a really nice game, and these guys are really doing fine. After all, they gave us really nice gaming experiences with Two Worlds and Two Worlds II, and, after all, they are doing it with passion and they are trying to make a living. So please show some decency, for the love of God!

Seems that I’ve played a different game.

Something is wrong! It seems that GOG has cheated me, as I may have played a different game! The game I played had interesting quests, either funny or more serious, such as a zoologist (who is named after a famous person) who doesn’t care about animals, but only about his pockets to be full. Or when you have to track down giant chickens. Or to sabotage (or not) a wedding ceremony. Or Polly the parrot. Or to uncover a murderer. Or the fact that a simple rolling pin is the strongest blunt weapon in the game! Also, the hero’s voice actor from the first game returned, but in another, and smaller, role. I finished it in 22 h. Just one negative: the wildlife was very scarce in the map. But it didn’t mind me, as I already was high leveled from main game and Pirates expansion. All in all, I’m truly glad that I dared to try the Two Worlds series (even though in discount), despite the negative things that I had read about it (especially about 1 and Tenebrae). I fully enjoyed the total of 216 hours that I spent playing, and finishing, all Two Worlds games (1, 2, Pirates, Tenebrae). I’m really looking forward for Two Worlds 3 (when it’s released), but only if it’s brought in GOG.

So-so DLC for a so-so game

There's actually more story than in the main game and the DLC is larger than the first one, but the progress is slowed down by exhaustively generic dungeons filled with literally hundreds (no joking!) of the same boring enemies like skeletons and spiders. The graphics look a bit generally better then in the main game but issues like clipping errors in the distance are still there. The starting village is quite beautiful and the enemies look better, but large parts of the world are empty and boring again. Also the cutscenes look OK now and the issues with voice/music volume seem to have been fixed. However I had problems with no voice acting at first as there is no proper language setup, so the game obviously tried to access language files and subtitles it didn't find (no problems in the main game). I needed to install a patch from the Topware site to fix this. Still even then, when importing a character from the first DLC, all inventory items from this DLC just have substitute names. Apart from the main quest, most of the side quests are somewhat weird and quest markers don't seem to work at all. For some quests, you can't even activate them and even if you can, they tend to point to the location where you got the quest. Actually there is at least one quest entry (chicken) where I didn't even understand if this actually is a quest. Plus there are stupid collections task. I finally gave up finding the last scarlet butterfly and some beaver lodge in the swamps after running around frustrated for some hours. Also the Boss fight is completely ridiculous and involves standing around waiting beneath a column for two minutes or so. At least you can continue exploring after the main quest is over - but then there's nothing to explore (other than looking for that last butterfly and that stupid beavers). Hey, but you finally got to see the face of Dar Pha - which however is another stupid twist in a way as they needed to change her skin tone just for this.

Aged well but spoiled fast once reopened

Played the main game way back in 2010 and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Figured an expansion would bring a new gloss and shine to an enjoyable experience, but boy was I wrong. The main game is a pretty solid experience now after all the patching and fine-tuning, but this expansion does nothing but shove a bevy of clipping, sound glitches, mistranslated items, silent cutscenes and buggy quests into it. It also doesn't help that the GOG version of Two Worlds hasn't been updated to its HD edition, as in other platforms. Call of the Tenebrae just isn't a good expansion. Empty expanses of scenery, linear dungeons stocked with the same critters, anachronistic and excessively referential humor, and a healthy helping of "more of the same" that just isn't enough. Besides, enjoyable as the main game is, the plot never was its forte, so even knowing how the characters' story progresses isn't much of an incentive. I was honestly ready to like this, but left very much disappointed.
