Turok

What can I say other than, just pick it up and play. What a fun and delightful blast. If you are modern gaming, drop what you're doing and buy this game!

Buy at your own risk, for some reason most of these games on GOG.com cannot support windows 8.1. :( I love Turok, and it loads fine, but it just keeps flashing bright white lights everywhere and it hurts my eyes. Currently I cannot play anything even after playing with all the options available to fix it.

First of all, reviews should be about the product, not the price itself. When people are scrolling through the list, they see the rating and figure it's a bad port or that the game is aged terribly. As for me, I loved the old Turok game and have played it a lot. The weapons reminded me of the weapons from Doom with their awesome destructive powers. Back in the days this was a gem to play. A bit console like but still contained a lot of fun, and the fog in the game made it scary for me as a kid. If you feel nostalgic, it's still worth a play, otherwise there are greater FPS titles out there.

The gunplay is fun, certainly- the enemy variety? Pretty cool. Bad guys, monsters & dinosaurs but where oh where is the ammunition? Enemies respawn infinitely but ammo is limited, the first level was fine but progressing on I simply ran out of ammunition and was trying instead to run past enemies. On top of that- there's a lives system, combined with a checkpoint system combined with a save place system. What? Any one of those would be semi-bad on their own, but all three combined? Don't understand it. The levels are also absolutely huge which would be fine if you could actually save the game. I love these FPSes where you live on the edge, like Doom when you're at your last scrap of ammunition and are given a few cherished bullets- but having zero ammo and trying to sprint back laser-gun guys? No thanks. I played it for a couple of hours but I think that's a wrap.
