Description
TSIOQUE (pronounced /tsɪɒk/) is a dark but playful Point & Click adventure, hand-animated in meticulous, frame-by-frame 2D. Escape the clutches of an Evil Wizard and discover the secrets hidden within the spellbound castle of your ancestors.

We take the role of princess Tsioque, imprisoned in a castle overtaken by the Evil Wizard. When darkness falls on your ancestral home, places formerly familiar suddenly turn unfriendly and dangerous.

The castle walls have become a deadly trap - we must escape and thwart the Evil Wizard's plans before the spell he has cast on the castle escalates, triggering events beyond anyone's control...

  • A 100% hand-drawn, frame-by-frame animated 2d adventure game with a unique atmosphere.
  • Humor? Check. Darkness? Check. Suspense? Check! What more could you ask for?
  • Story with a twist - a clever story that may surprise you.
  • Fully voiced dialogue tracks.
  • LOTS of 2D animation – all characters and items are hand-animated, frame-by-frame, old-school-style.
  • Beautiful, hand-drawn backgrounds.
  • Exceptional soundtrack by Edward Harrison (NEOTOKYO, LUCKY DAY FOREVER) and Elle Kharitou, dynamically illustrating the gameplay and adjusted to your every action.

  • The protagonist - a little girl with a talent for bringing chaos and destruction wherever she goes. Those who dare stand in her way are in for a lot of trouble...

  • A changing, mysterious and dangerous world - even before the Wizard's attack, the castle held many secrets. Now, bound by a powerful spell, the castle not only became home to demons and magical creatures, but has also been affected itself by the evil power... It bends and shapeshifts, forming layers upon layers of transformation and illusion... It is an essential part of the plot, and - especially later in the game - an element tightly integrated into the gameplay.

  • You can "die" in this game! - It's an adventure game, so explore, solve puzzles... but beware. There won't always have the comfort of infinite time to solve a problem, sometimes you may have to think fast! Other times you may want to think twice before choosing a new course of action, as a wrong decision may cost you your freedom... or worse!

The world of TSIOQUE is inhabited by creatures of all sorts - humans, animals, monsters, you name it. Don't let appearances deceive you, some seemingly nice people may not necessarily have the best intentions, and a seemingly terrifying monster may not be all that evil. Fortunately, even when events turn for the worst, Tsioque can always count on help from her friends, which she will find in least expected places.

The main inspiration is inarguably LIFE, which always writes the best scritps. But of course we're not living in cultural vaccuum. While creating TSIOQUE, we couldn't help but be inspired by things that thrilled, shocked and amazed us in the past, that burned forever into our memory in the childhood days spent in front of the pale light of CRT monitors.

Among many other inspirations, we could certainly count: a smart, humorous story backed by beautiful art style of DAY OF THE TENTACLE, simplicity of the gameplay and a serious approach to a younger player in games by Ron Gilbert like PAJAMA SAM, a vivid, dangerous world seen through the eyes of a boy in HEART OF DARKNESS, wonderfully animated epic fantasy and its gruesome punishments for failures in DRAGON'S LAIR, or INDIANA JONES AND THE FATE OF ATLANTIS, an old Lucasarts classic with a perfect blend of adventure, humor and action, where carelessness could cost you dearly.

A spirited adventure

A charming and well-drawn game, with the vibe of an old animated movie to both its visuals and story. The main character has the right amount of pluck and the obstacles the right amount of teeth, without the game overdoing it and getting either too saccharine or too dark, while the environments have lots of lively touches to them that add to the animated atmosphere. It's not long, but neither does it feel short. Rather, the length feels appropriate to the story it's telling, staying fresh from start to finish, with quality to it that never falters and with everything culminating in a satisfying conclusion.

A nice little point and click

I bought this instantly because I just love beautiful hand drawn frame by frame animations and point and click adventures are my favorite genre. However given the fact how time consuming frame by frame animation is, I did not expect this game to be very long and it is not. I was able to finish the game in 5 hours even though I took my time and looked at everything. Maybe some will take longer and some shorter - hard to say with the genre. The game is kind of a mixture out of Machinarium and Dragon's Lair with some mini games added here and there. Don't let the Dragon's Lair part I mentioned scare you away though it is just that there are some parts in the game in which you will have to do the correct thing at the correct moment or you will get caught and will have to try again (no loading time involved so after a few trys you'll mostly get it right). Most of the time is a true point and click though. There's no inventory combining included in the game and after a short time the game is offering several locations to go to which can be chosen freely. The story seems to be quite simple and presents itself as the classic fairy tale including (well voiced) narrator and beautiful designed "book" introduction we all know from those Disney classics. Still it offers a few surprises here and there that I don't want to spoil. Since it is important for some players: the game recognizes the language of the OS it is running on but it is possible to switch language in game as well. It is not possible to change audio and text seperately so you can only play with English language and English or German text / Polish language and Polish text (ver. 1.05). Nice and cute animations, fitting and not distracting OST, logical puzzles ... I enjoyed my 5 hours in this beautiful and cute game a lot and I'd say it is worth the 10 Euro I payed for it. So if you are into this kind of genre and don't mind the short playtime I would recommend it.

Great little game

I bought it on launch week because I like point and click adventures and 2D-animation and I want to support the devs. However, had I been waiting since 2015 for it, i'd be a little dissapointed. I mean, it's pretty and it's generally really good PaC with nice puzzles and almost none pixel hunting but you can tell that they were under-stuffed and under-budget. It took me around 3 hours to beat, I imagine it comes down to 1-1.5 hours if you know what to do. It's portrayed in the trailers like some grand adventure, but it's just a little story for the evening. That being said, I enjoyed every minute of Tsioque and recommend it. Also, it will be perfect if you want a game to play with your kids.

Nice adventure game

The game works flawlessly on Linux with wine. TSIOQUE looks nice. Many animations and details make for a charming atmosphere which is well supported by music and sound effects. There's no laughing-out-loud humour, but many situations put a smile on my face and I chuckled a few times. The puzzles make sense and when I didn't know how to proceed it didn't take me all too long to find a way forward. While you visit locations multiple times, backtracking wasn't a problem. The game has some action sequences where you have to do something in a limited time or you'll "die", that is, you play the same situation again. Playing with a touchpad I found it challenging to click on something, open the inventory on the right side of the screen, select an item and use the item in the time given. With the exception of one skippable sequence for which I had to use a mouse it is doable, but having to repeat scenes multiple times because of not being able to click the correct spots fast enough can get in the way of a relaxing afternoon/evening on the couch. Animations are not skippable which can add to the frustration of having to repeat a scene. All in all, it's a good way to spend a afternoon or evening and well worth the money you're willing to spend on that.

Adults will enjoy it as well

It is memorable game with great graphics and sound design. It's story telling is also awesome. I didn't get stuck once in all 4 hours of gameplay. This game is family friendly, but adults will enjoy it as well. It has some epic moments, it has a lot of funny moments and it has some mysterious moments. Puzzles make sense. The game contains few minigames. I didn't get any bug. The game does not take itself too serious which is good.
