Description
Tropico combines real-time strategy and simulation elements with a healthy dose of political intrigue and Caribbean flair to create a unique and critically acclaimed game experience.
Became the sole ruler of a remote banana republic. Fight against poverty, corruption and rebels, make your own people happy or enforce your rule through military strength. However, do not forget to set aside a few dollars for your own retirement on a Swiss bank account! But don't forget about natural disasters like tropical storms.
You can also become a Pirate King, and you'll have to keep both your buccaneers and prisoners under control and send your ships to prowl for treasure.
The pack includes Tropico, the Paradise Island add-on and Tropico 2: Pirate Cove
Become El Presidente of a banana republic or the King of a pirate island
Win the trust of your people or crush them under the yoke of oppression

If youve ever held the idea of being the leader of your very own 1950's style banana republic, this is your big chance. This game catches the atmosphere extremely well. As El Presidente you walk the tightrope between the two superpowers, and their adherants, and your people and their factions. Its not easy keeping everyone happy and if you arent careful, you'll find yourself adrift at sea in a rowboat and a suitcase full of money. Heck, the game is worth the price of a ticket just for the music!
Following is my experience from Tropico 1;
Pros
-Realistic time in power that you can decide (up to 70 years)
-A large amount of scenarios to choose from with difficulty ratings
-Random map with a variety of options for deciding you island (e.g. size, amount of minerals/good farming land, elevation, amount of water coverage)
- Different pros/cons for leaders which you decide (choose how they got into power, peeves such as alcoholic, short tempered, there background like miner/professor and there qualities such as diplomat)
-Alot of replayability value due to the fact all of the above will make each game different (and on random map the difficulty will be estimated, but your score at the end will be times'd by this)
-Can see alot of information on each citizen, no-one is the same (you can see name, happiness, needs, education, where they work, their home and during an election who want to vote for )
-Can set wages
-Can take out anyone you dont like (by means of assasination, capture ect, even people your running against in an election)
-Can fix elections
-not much micromanagement (e.g. all people choose on there own where they want to work ect)
Cons
-Cannot take loans (from what i've seen so far)
-Only have a choice of 4 camera angles
