Trine is a good fantasy adventure

Trine is a solid game. Well done in the classic fantasy convention. The story is a simple, classic adventure in the search for an unusual item. Despite this, it properly harmonizes with the audiovisual creation in the fairy-tale palette of colors and music composed in such an atmosphere. And speaking of the climate, it must be said that this is the strongest element of the title. In addition, the mechanics and fun in finding puzzling solutions on how to pass the board are at a decent level. Quite simple, and above all repetitive puzzles and here may be the problem of the game - monotony. It is true that he breaks this monotony as a magician who creates shapes, which gives him some freedom in creating the solution. In general, I highly recommend Trine, but as a very nice game to play in cooperation.

Skeletons ruined the experience for me

Developers obviously didn't have enough time to finish it. You can tell that by the fact your only enemies are skeletons and bats, and the "big bosses" are just two repeated a couple of times. That makes it quite repetitive and boring, but the worst part is that basically you get to an area with a couple of skeletons, and you kill them, then 2 or 3 more spawn, you kill them too, 2 more spawn, kill them, repeat that about 9 or 10 times and then you can move on. Also they don't have much IA, which is to be expected from skeletons but it also means that you can locate a safe position and smash every skeleton as they get close. Also the "hit detection" system is VERY ANNOYING as you get hit when you wasn't really touched. Because of that, is quite complicated to avoid hits when you are rounded, and worst thing here, is that if you get a bunch of skeletons near a revive point, and you die there, you characters will revive in that exact point with minimum energy and lots of skeletons around, only to die instantly with a single hit because apart from the knight, the other 2 characters have absolutely no defense. So you basically die, die, die until the game makes your go back to the last checkpoint. However, thanks to the great graphics and some cool physic puzzles, is still enjoyable.

A beautiful tale

Before playing Trine, imagine you're a kid again. Imagine you're opening your first fairy tale book full of magical adventures. Trine is just that, a beautifully crafted fairy tale with relatively simple puzzles, and a not too challenging difficulty (that is if you play it on normal difficulty). Obviously this is a must buy if you're purchasing this for a kid, but also a great title to play it yourself or with friends. In this game you control 3 characters, a wizard, a thief and a warrior. The three of them have very distinct personalities, and abilities. The wizard can conjure objects like boxes and platforms that aid you in your quest, the thief is nimble has a grappling hook and a bow that helps her take out enemies from afar, the warrior is a jolly fellow which can crush enemies with his sword and protect himself with a shield. The puzzles are really simple, and some of them have been crafted with the idea that you can complete them with any of your characters. If you are a fan of intricate solutions, or having to break your head around puzzles, this game will disappoint you in that regard. The platforming experience is quite solid and overall enjoyable. Graphically this game is very beautiful, the game atmosphere makes you feel like you've stepped into a fairy tale. Creepy castles and dungeons, mysterious forests, dark mines, every environment has been carefully crafted. The graphical effects like bloom, water reflection make for an overall gorgeous landscape, and the backgrounds are quite good. I didn't had the chance to play it with friends, but the game has built in co-op, which I imagine must be quite fun. The game is a tad short, nevertheless it's truly a beautiful and memorable game.

Thoroughly enjoyed it!

The whole family loved the puzzle's and the way each character could be used to solve them differently. I played it on Linux though, I'm a bit disappointed that GOG doesn't have the Linux version here since this game has Linux/Mac ports :(

Good for kids

Good for kids doesn't mean bad for anyone else. I just think this game presents an entertaining fairy tail in an appealing way for young players. Best played with friend or two.
