BE THE ULTIMATE BADASS
You play as an escaped soldier, who has no memories of their past life, but is infused with supernatural abilities. Revenge is on your mind, and you’ll stop at nothing to get what you want. Deliver devastating punches, sneak around in the shadows, wield explosive weapons, and give the bad guys a taste of their own medicine.

Great combat mechanics, great atmosphere, great sound design, great voice acting. The movement/gunplay feels amazing, the devs really know what they are doing on that front. Graphics are okay, the have a bit of a source engine feel to them. Performance is good as well. I thinks this works well for this game.
Story is bit confusing at first, but I like the military scifi/horror thing they were going for. Can't stand Call of Shootyfield type shooters these days.
It's a bit short maybe, but it's meant to be replayed at harder difficulties, which is fine because it's just so damn fun to play.
This isn't a FEAR spiritual sequel, but it was sold to me by many as one. The AI just feels average.
The combat is not semi-tactical with bursts of John Woo, but just straight up a movement shooter. A shootout in FEAR was full of little breaks while enemies repositioned and you planned the next move. That's where the illusion of the FEAR soldiers' chatter shined.
In Trepang2 there's little decision; you chain slides and jumps while trying to find the source of the bullet trails landing around you in the chaos of the (beautiful) sparks and dust.
Spray and pray is useless; the guns are too inaccurate even with single shots unless you stand still, and the enemies demand headshots, often double. The enemies are too accurate to allow you to stop and take precise shots. You need to cheese with the slow-motion.
This leads to the pistol and shotgun outclassing all the other guns for utility and ammo availability: The pistol is accurate while moving. The shotgun so absurdly powerful it negates the bulletsponges and you have no problem closing the gap.
The whole narrative experience feels disconnected and weak: Ideas have not had time to be explored or fleshed out. Most of the places don't feel real. They feel like what they are: Arenas, or hallways leading you to arenas. They do not feel like places built for people.
Story progression is too fast for anything to feel like it has weight. NPCs commenting on things as if they happened days ago, but to you it was just 30 seconds past with no transition suggesting otherwise.
Go into it expecting DOOM 2016 fast and gory combat, with a tactical flavor. And nothing more.
I would recommend this game. It is fun , face paced, and something new happens each level. One complaint I do have is that it does not have much for enemies. You mostly face of the same pmcs with the occasional mix up with a goo monster things and cultest.
