Under Appreciated 10/10
This game is an original, & deeply immersive. Simple & intuitive it's a diamond in a world of zirconians.

A beautiful cinematic experience
I fell in love with this game when I caught someone streaming it a year or so ago. It was cheap so I grabbed it, though I let it languish in the backlog for a long time before I got around to giving it a playthrough myself. The art style is gorgeous, highly detailed, with nods to its classic film inspiration with backgrounds made to look like matte paintings and scenery that looks like miniatures. It can be detrimental sometimes though, as it can be hard to see where exactly the walkable paths are. I played on the lowest difficulty since I'm terrible at beat-em-ups, so I can't really say too much about the combat mechanics. For the most part you can button-mash your way through, with parry-and-counter moves being effective in most cases. I imagine more thoughtful tactics are needed at the higher levels. If you love classic Japanese cinema, horror, or bmups, you should absolutely give this game a try! As cheap as it is there isn't much reason not to.

Very pretty and good
4,5 As in gameplay it's nothing original, but it does what it was supposed to in a good, well thought way. The fights can be challenging in the medium difficulty. The main strenght is the Japanese vibe (mainly the Kurosawa-like black and white movie story) and well described shinto mythology. The camera positioning often gives a nice movie-like panorama, which almost never is a part of the gameplay - sometimes only found in the cutscenes in other games. Not sure, if the non-Japan-geeks will enjoy and appreciate it in the same way.

Shader Compilation & Loading Stutter
Ever thought this CINEMATIC game needs to be smooth? think again! the devs think it´s fine if you have terrible framepacing in a storybased, cinematic game.

A mixed bag
I like the visual style of the game very much. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the story. I had hoped for something like *Seven Samurai* or *Ghost of Tsushima,* but that's not what we get here. Combat is okay, but I had a really hard time with some of the moves, particularly blocking thrusts or dodging arrows. Some kind of training room for practicing moves and combos would've been very much appreciated.
