Not Worth the Hassle
Let me start off by saying that unless you're some kind of psychic, you will have this game crash at least once when you're given control of the game after the second opening cutscene, i.e. when you get your boat. This is because you probably aren't running it in Windows 95 compatibility mode and as administrator. You'll also want to run settings.exe as an administrator, either to change your controls or to find out what those controls even are. The readme doesn't tell you these things. The Controls option at the title screen vaguely alludes to what Jumping and Action are, but doesn't tell you what those functions are mapped to or let you change them. Controls in hand, you will start another new game, this time trying to skip the opening cutscenes. Doing this will apparently cause either certain buttons to stop working, or the game to lockup entirely. Close the program and try again, this time without touching anything. Quoting someone from their forums, "...with a bit of luck it might work for you...". Once you've gotten past that, found that the game doesn't always crash when you get your boat, and gotten used to the piss-poor default key mapping and pixel-perfect jumps, you'll talk to someone, maybe a shopkeeper... And be unable to leave the conversation. It was at this point that I hit ctrl+alt+del, closed down the program, and uninstalled it. This game is a buggy, nigh-unplayable mess, and despite being free, still manages to be too expensive for what you're getting. Just skip the hassle and go play a good indie game, like Cave Story.

so so
pretty good game as compared to Mario bros games but some of the tasks are very hard and you'd better be very, very good with your key board and hand /eye coordination. frustrating at some points but good to keep you occupied for a few days...not bad for a free game

UNPLAYABLE!
I HATED THIS GAME WITHIN TWO MINUTES! Horrible sloggy jumping. No way to get comfortable with the controls. + a pain in the ass to change them with having to go into the setup .exe Long, boring starting cut scene I don't give a crap about. Slow, grating-on-the-nerves gameplay with aforementioned bad jumping controls. I seriously regret getting this for free.
