Description
Train Fever includes the original game plus the FREE USA DLC!

Train Fever is a railroad-focused business simulation game. In other words, it's a modern-day Transport Tycoon with procedural content and a sophisticated city simulation.

It’s the year 1850, and there are great times ahead! Establish a transport company and be its manager. Build infrastructure such as railways and stations, purchase transportation vehicles and manage lines. Fulfill the people’s needs and watch cities evolve dynamically.

Train Fever runs on an engine specifically developed for this game. The engine has a great innovative scope and is specialized in procedural content and urban simulation. A key point is the fact that there is no grid that game objects have to be aligned to, allowing for a great degree of freedom.

USA DLC

With the USA DLC, a complete American game mode is added to Train Fever. Equivalent to the original European game mode, the player starts in 1850 and experiences more than 150 years of railroad history. More than 50 realistic American vehicles including trains, buses, streetcars and trucks are included.

To make the American experience complete, landscape and towns are modified as well. Wild West stylized American towns spread in a desert landscape and wait for a transport tycoon to be connected to the world. Also, environment elements like trees, streets and the sky have been adapted.

All vehicles are realistic. Models and textures have been developed by using blueprints and photographs of the original vehicles. As a result, the USA DLC depicts quite a piece of American railroad and transportation history.

The USA DLC has been developed in close collaboration with the modding community. We are excited that modders have contributed more than 15 vehicles. It’s great to see such an active modding community. To further support these activities, together with the release of the USA DLC modding support is significantly extended.
  • Randomly generated, modifiable terrain with realistic dimensions
  • Advanced passenger simulation
  • Dynamically simulated urban development
  • Procedurally generated buildings
  • No grid - that is, the game world is not limited to 90 (or 45) degree angles
  • Vehicles from more than 150 years of transportation history
  • Passenger and freight transport
  • Detailed 3D graphics
  • Freely adjustable zoom factor
  • Complete USA game mode (equivalent to European game mode)
  • More than 50 realistic and detailed American vehicles
  • Trains, buses, streetcars and trucks of more than 150 years of American history
  • American landscape, towns, streets and environment
  • In-game mod support (enable game modifications in-game)

Regret I bought it

Do not buy. This game is unfinished and does lack features games had long long before. Railroad Tycoon, TTD are much better. The reason I uninstalled is I can't understand why I can't tell a train which way to go, even by using waypoints. the train wants to take a longer and jamed track to the next station and doesn't even start to drive. I have a train station with 4 tracks and I want the train to drive into direction B, but instead it wants to go into direction B, even if I use waypoints along the track, game doesn't care. I don't think that it is to complicated to give the player the option on which track the Train drives, just let the player colour the tracks and put the train there and let it drive, developers. The Transport on street is working quite well. But it is a catastrophy on railroad. Maybe you shouldn't call it "Train Fever" Well I get Fever from playing the game. Absolutely no go. You can't organize your Timetable. There is no undo Function either and no planning mode. So be lucky to put the track at the right place or remove it with the bulldozer and pay for removing and rebuilding. There is no multiplayer either and no AI opponents. So a big lack of feautures. And performance from hell, lags lags lags. I wouldn't buy it again. But I might give it a chance if they fix all these things especially the thing with the routeplanning. First of all I wouldn't recommend to buy it and if you really want to buy it be sure you have got a powerful machine. Running quite well on a i7 4790 with GTX 760 3GB and 12GB RAM . Unplayable on Notebook i7 2630QM AMD Radeon HD 6850M 1GB, 4GB RAM. And grafics are not quite decent either. Hope I could help have a nice day....

Nice simulation. Could use documentation

An interesting and very detailed simulation of transportation, that shows attention to detail by the developers. The lack of a handbook or even tooltips can result in quite a steep learning curve, with lot's of trial, error and wasted funds. It is hard to gauge if there is enough room for the track constructs you need and there is lot's of detail work needed to setup the tracks properly so that multiple trains can use them in quick sucession/concurrently. It is also hard to gauge if you busses can make a U-turn or have to drive a detour to turn around. But since it is aiming for a long playtime, that should not be much of an issue in the long run and for the overall experience. I cannot confirm reports of others that the game is "badly optimised". It runs fluidly on my I5 notebook with Windows 8.1, even at highest simulation speeds.

Really nice transport simulation!

One warning ahead: This game needs some horsepower in your PC. It's custom 3D engine definitely needs some optimization, especially on notebooks. That being sad: On my i5-4570 linux desktop with 8gb ram and an NVIDIA gtx 750, it runs smooth and looks really good :-). It's unfornutate that many simulation fans run older PCs but if you happen to like such games and have a newer PC, you should try this game. It has a step learning curve and i played it for hours and hours and i have to control myself each time not to lose days to this game. I has some rough edges though, but the devs are very passionate and a lot has been fixed already and they continue to deliver on gameplay improvements.

guessing the rules

This is a guessing game. They don't actually, like, tell you the rules or how the game works or ... anything. The "tutorial" consists of maybe the equivalent of a page or two of text that gives you the barest clues to how to get started. The game here is not to build a railroad, but to figure out what the rules are by trial and error. You'll discover pretty quickly that if you're going to have trains running in two directions on a single line, you need to build sidings and signals. Ok, fine. if you know anything about railroads you might have guessed that. But how do you build sidings? Where do signals go? There's something called "waypoints". Not a clue what these are for or how they work. How do I know what goods anyone will ship? I set up a route delivering oil to an oil refinery and that worked fine. Then I saw there are "iron mines", and if you hunt around a little you will discover that "steel mills" want iron and coal. So I built a station near an iron mine and another near a steel mill and ran a train between them. They never shipped any iron on the train. Okay, maybe I need to have both iron and coal available before they'll ship either. So I set up another route to bring coal. Still nothing. Was the station too far from the iron mine? Was the other station too far from the steel mill? Was there some other problem? Not a clue. I don't like games where I have to reverse engineer the game to figure out the rules. Okay, in real life, maybe owners of a railroad wouldn't know exactly how many passengers would ride their trains, etc. But surely they'd have a clue, especially when considering transporting raw materials to a factory. Like, before spending millions of dollars building stations and laying track and buying trains, wouldn't they talk to the factory owner and ask, "Hey, if we ran a rail line in here to deliver coal, would you use it?" But there's no way to ask. You have to build the rail line and see what happens.

TT still not beaten…

Sounds like a transport tycoon dream. but optimisation, controls and some game mechanics are pulling this down. Will be happy reviewing this if devs make some necessary updates.
