The Warlord Approves of This Chaos
This is one of the most fun games the Warlord has played in a long time. Trial Out is a light-hearted Fallout like racing game with its own flavour that is equal parts chaotic and Euro-jank (which I say in the most loving way). Pros >The Racing is fun and chaotic, clearly influenced by racing games from the early to mid 2000s. Most obviously Flatout 1 & 2. >Plenty of events to keep the game interesting. From racing and short-track racing, to demolition derby events, gimmick events and rag-doll events. >So many references from video games and films. Some are obvious and recent, whereas others could make you go "wow, haven't heard (or seen) that in a while. >Quite a lot of cars for a game made by FOUR people. many have great names too. So can be unlocked via cheat codes, which is cool. >Has split-screen multiplayer, which is both rare and great to see in a modern game. Makes me very nostalgic. >Very easy to understand and play. >A hidden game mode. Not great, but shows dedication and passion for the game. Cons >Graphics are fine, but not stellar. Lots of pop-in. >Voice acting is horrible. >Menu control is weird. Changes from mouse to controller randomly. >Car controls can come off as floaty and loose for first-time players. But I got over it quickly. >The rag-doll events are a bit floaty in the rag-doll controls, in my opinion. >Repetitive campaign structure, but is nullified (in my august opinion) via the fun racing. But overall, the game is fantastic fun. Another example of an indie game's studio making a fun and highly inspired game that many AAA studios refuses to do anymore. Definately get it when you can, more preferably on sale. But get it regardless!
