Towerfall: Ascension

The VS mode is the #1 reason to buy this game. This thing makes for hours upon hours of entertainment with other people sitting on the same couch. When the same old gameplay gets boring, the hundreds of modifiers change the gameplay enough to make it refreshing. The singleplayer mode is not amazing.

Towerfall Ascension doesn't like much at prime view, but it has what it takes to become a classic as Bomberman or Worms were in their time. Base is simple : each player is an archer with three arrows, once shot the arrows can be retrieved. Add to this clever 2D environment with passthroughs on every side, nice physics allowing crafty traps and move and various bonus, and you're up for hours of fun. Only small downside is: 1. local multiplayer only, but I guess it would be difficult to add quality online multi while preserving ping... 2. Probably much harder on keyboard/mouse, gamepad can be considered mandatory. TL;DR: Must-have game for couch, console-like multiplayer fun!!!

Don't fall for the pseudo "political" debate. This game is the best local multiplayer game you can dream of. Simple to handle, hard to master, very short games, plenty of different situations, tons of fun. You cannot miss it.

Lots of fun with friends. * needs controllers though for best experience.
