Timeless Classic
I remember when everybody was talking about this game, and basically thinking "whats so good about it?" Then I rented the Playstation version (You know. The first one...), and found to my utter surprise that this game is fantastic. I mean, what are you looking for in a good shooter? Multiplayer? Check. Deep and varying tactics? Check. Lots of action? Check. Interesting premise and universe? Check. A whole lotta good time? CHECK PLEASE. Sure the graphics are not as amazing as they once were, but FPS rarely age well anyway, and if you are at this site looking for a game with amazing graphics by modern standards.. well.... theres the Witcher series... But basically, if you call yourself a fan of military shooters, and you haven't at least played a variation of this game then I dont want to know you.

Still holds up
This and SWAT 3 are two shining examples of gameplay that has aged fairly gracefully, and incidentally are also shining examples of the genre they belong to. At this point, nearly 25 years since its release, most know whether this game will suit them or not. It is a game that demands patience and is tough to master. If slow-burning action and tense, one-shot-and-your-down scenarios are up your alley, then look no further. There is however the issue of running this on modern systems, and for that I can only give this a 4/5. The game crashes on menu screens quite regularly, although I have yet to have a crash occur mid-mission. Though from what I've read on other reviews here, it seems I'm lucky to even get it to run, so I won't complain too much.

What happened to modern gaming
The updated game - six siege, is really bad. I'm excited to play this, hopefully I can say what I want in chat and not get banned for leaving the game.

Poorly aged Progenitor of Tactical FPSs
Once you get this game running on modern systems, (the PCgamingwiki is always a useful resource for playing retro games) I have to say it has aged awfully. The level design is excellent, real places, authentic feel, a bit barren but expected for the time. The AI is horrible. Especially when you compares this game's AI to Swat 3. They can't handle stairs; any quick movement will have your overwatch running past you and headlong into danger, destroying your meticulously made plan. I want to like this game, because the planning stage is interesting to me, but the AI just does not seem to have the competency to execute it.
