Huge potential, but major flaws
You can read the good stuff on the other reviews. I have to agree with most. The tactical aspect is amazing, planning is fun, very realistic. The levels are way more detailed than you would expect. Definitely feels like the real thing. There are several flaws that turn this possibly great game into a disaster. 1. Bouncing grenades. Grenades bounce back at you. I guess that some of you are thinking "well he just doesn't know how to do it". Real grenades don't bounce back at you, so why should the grenades in the game? It makes this very important tool useless in the game. 2. No saves. Some of you would say, well you have to plan well in advance and you pay for every mistake. But after spending 40 minutes on a mission just to get your soldier dead (sometimes not your fault but game bugs) in the last fight is extremely frustrating. 3. AI is retarded. Sometimes your soldiers will get stuck walking into each other, or trying to climb and descend stairs at the same time rendering them useless for the rest of the mission. If you're unlucky, you can even get stuck in a room and have to abort the mission. Pathfinding is awful in this game, and this is exactly what is important here in this type of game. You can't trust other squads to do what you want them to do, and every once in a while you have to change to other squads to move them around a bit so they would stop walking into walls. 4. Dubious enemies. A terrorist sees his friend goes down and does nothing? Another one gets shot and just keeps standing there? Do yourself a favor, and don't get this game. Not for the 10$ they are asking for it. The game has huge potential, but it is way too buggy (and it's version 1.4!).
