* Light-hearted 3D collectathon platformer
* Smooth controls
* Excellent level design
* Freedom to explore and discover everything on your own
* Adorable companions with different abilities
* But no combat, no strategy, not like Pikmin
* Overall very forgiving and not challenging
* Wonderful soundtrack
* 6-10 hours long
Tinykin is a 3D platformer where you are a shrunken character in a huge house. Each room represents its own world, in which you have to complete tasks and explore the surroundings. There is pollen to collect, which can be used to extend your ability to levitate. You also collect small animals. These come in different colors and each color has its own abilities. Red ones can blow up certain things, pink ones are strong and can carry things for you, and green ones let you build a ladder. I don't know if there's more, I haven't gotten that far yet. Very early in the game you get a "soap skateboard" with which you can progress very quickly, especially on edges or downhill.
The game runs buttery smooth, is perfectly playable with the controller (which I would recommend) and the worlds are absolutely brilliantly made. The game is heavily based on exploration, you should search every nook and talk to every character, also to get quests.
The music is nice but nothing special, the sounds are fitting and good, and the visuals are really great for an indie title. In addition, the controls are really spot-on.
Another highlight is the save system: You don't have to save manually, but the game saves automatically every few meters (felt) and you always end up exactly where you last saved. This is rather untypical for this genre, as most other platformers usually end up in a hub world after loading.
There is no combat in this game and the only way to die is to fall from a great height. But even then, the game puts you back to where you fell off from!
I definetly recommend this game to anyone who likes 3D platformers.
With some games, the second you gain control of your character you know you're in for a good time. This is one of those games.
The game feel, butter is jealous of how smooth this game is.
The music, chill.
Art style, well executed if not mind blowing.
Story, charming. Though I was not expecting the Kitchen level to be a class divide.
Performance, no issues on my machine at all. Though I certainly would hope not.
Bravo to the devs! I am kind of picky with 3d platformers and y'all nailed it.
Note to those who are looking for Pikmin, this is not Pikmin. Little colorful dudes following you around does not a Pikmin make. But if you are looking for a casual 3d collect 'em up then you could do a heck of a lot worse than this.
You go around collecting your little friends, who help you collect other things and move to more interesting places, both up and down.
The entire thing is lighthearted and fun... great for kids or adults who just want something mellow!
Game flow: 7 hours.
This is a game like "PIKMIN".
While the last two levels felt a bit tired due to the lack of new gameplay, the overall play was very smooth.
No forced collection, no combat, just smooth and enjoyable light decryption.
But the price is a little expensive, recommended discount. (Although it has great graphics, smooth feel, and fun gameplay.)
