It's a fair game...

Not five-star, but good effort. I skipped all Gwent parts in Witcher 3, so actually I was a noob here, but the game has very smooth learning curve, so I understood everything very quickly. Project is solid, but it becomes very repetitive after first two chapters - and very easy even on standard level of difficulty. Storyline is great, but I know what have inspired this game - Banner Saga, of course. It's so obvious, that I can't praise creators more - they took nice narrative idea and implemented it. Every action has its own consenquences, yeah. The bad part is laying inside metaRPG and meta-adventure. There is not much sidequests, and the main part is pretty linear, so you won't have "that witcher experience". Also, exploring isn't so rewarding, I guess I was a kind of billionare in this world - that's it, a ton of wood, gold and human resources. Overall I could say that CDPR isn't staying in one place - but this experiment is balancing between something very good and something very average. Let's hope that they don't fall into average category of games.

Another CDPR Masterpiece

Let's talk about the bad things since there isn't much to say: -bugs/crashes. Quite a few sadly, nothing gamebreaking tho -it's way to easy to beat -this might be a minor thing, but I for one wanted to get into the gwent multi-player game, but Thronebreaker doesn't make it easy. While the game mechanics are the same, the cards have completely different text. So even if now i know every card in TB, I have to relearn every single card text from scratch Now the good: -I laugh when I see the "female protagonist" label on steam, most of the times these are just games that try to appeal to the mostly male gamers playing, so the characters are usually bad, but here all the characters and especially Queen Meeve are, lets just say, exceptional. Some of the best ever written -the voice acting is phenomenal, and remember that the game has no cutscenes etc, you're looking at pictures for the most part so to have this amount of quality va was a shock, a pleasant one -the art is beautiful, but even better is the in-game(when you're playing the cards) graphics, I played a lot of card games and this is by far the best I've seen in terms of animation, interface and I would say even atmosphere- which is strange to say in a card game -music is great tho a bit more tame then in the witcher -Gameplay: it's superb. Forget that little minigame you were playing in the witcher 3,this is truly a masterpiece card game, so much fun to create decks that just obliterate everything or have insane combos.Other then the card game you'll be playing a top down, exploration game and of course a "choose your own adventure" type of campaign, where you make decision that will affect the story/characters and the cards you can have in your deck -fun-factor:I've gushed enough about it already, needles to say it's a ton of fun and make no mistake, in true witcher fashion it's highly repayable as well, with different endings etc. Overall I say It's a must buy for this price. Thank you once again CDPR.

A Fantastic and New Genre of Game

Thronebreaker is a phenomenal surprise. It's a great strategy card game with an incredible open-world / story to motivate the player. The scaled and polish of the game is immense as well, and I've found my self shocked by the quality and mechanics this game has to offer. Worth full price, and frankly, worth even more than that. I hope to see more of this game in the future.

What a brilliant game this is

Very rarely have I played so much in so little time and the last time any game made me do this was The Witcher 3. Brilliant story, story-telling, art, sound design, music, gameplay. If another one of these kind of games will be announced I will one happy camper.

Delivers in lore, ambiance and story

As I'm about to finish it I feel I can already review it: I'm not too fond nor versed on card games, but as much as I think gwent fits an army themed game, I dont find the deckbuilding very satysfying for what the game puts in front of you. The puzzles are very well thought and fun, but there's not so much "basic" combat, which initially you expect. The visual novel part of the game is plainly great, beautiful artwork and voice acting (incluyendo el doblaje en español, sorprendentemente). Could have been a 5/5 but I didnt feel it "round", also too many bugs ranging from dangerously unacceptable (freeze, crash, save deleted) to just mildly annoying (graphic icons with wrong info).
