Thronebreaker is a single player role-playing game set in the world of The Witcher that combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and card battle mechanics.
Crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran and queen of two Northern Realms — Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath and set out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
Once again CDPR set another gold standard for the industry.
P.S. Let's be honest, we want another factions in form of expantion dlcs or a whole new standalone.
Oh i can't imagine how satisfying it is to conquer all kingdom as Emhyr.
So, even if i break the rules of GoG-Reviews ....
There is no Steam release ...
Really sad ...
Looks like a nice game ... worth to buy ...
But without a Steam-Release? I need to crack it! ... sorry (?) ...
Think again CD Project Red! Don't go the same way that all the f***ing big publishers go. There is the need of a Steam-Release! No need of another f***ing launcher on my PC! Think again CD Project Red!

I can imagine how this game would be appealing to fans of The Witcher series, but for someone with no experience in the series, Thronebreaker simply does not hold its own as worthwhile game.
I was drawn in by the unique visual style and the ambitious blend of turn-based strategy, role-playing, and puzzles, all of which are genres that I enjoy thoroughly. Sadly, none of these elements are particularly strong on their own.
- Turn-based strategy: The combat system boils down to "have more points on the field than your opponent". Every battle can be played the same way: Throw cards on the field blindly to see what gimmicky cards the AI deck contains. Then restart the battle and play around those gimmicky cards. That's it. There's no strategy or abstract decision making at all.
- Role-playing: I really like how the side quests offer moral choice scenarios that are not black and white. The characters and the choices are quite nuanced. However, the decisions you make don't seem to affect the game world in any meaningful way. It feels like you could flip a coin each time and it wouldn't make the game any easier or harder than if you thought carefully about each decision. The other role-playing mechanic, upgrading the camp, is a disappointment as well. None of the upgrades are meaningful.
- Puzzles: Someone who has played hundreds of hours of Gwent might see this game's puzzles as a breath of fresh air. With no Gwent experience, they barely even qualify as puzzles. Every one boils down to "Make this number equal a different number by playing cards that change numbers." They remind me of the Boomsday puzzles in HearthStone, but with the complexity scaled down to allow infants and family pets to participate.
If this were a Steam game, I would have refunded it within the first hour. Because I couldn't do that, I tried to squeeze some value out of it, but found myself constantly wishing I was doing something else instead.
this one (zero)star is for Gwent:The Witcher Card Game. not for this game.
i think we are in desperate need of an offline version of thronebreaker
not an online version.
if i like an online version of this ,Why don't i play hearthstone?
