This Is the Police 2

I really loved the first game TITP and it was an instabuy when I saw there is second game. Boy what a mistake! This will teach me not to ever buy before trying. Where to start... Just from all the introduction scenes I had very mixed feelings. And the feelings went on full blown when actually playing the game. So what is so different? The writings and scenes feel... While I admired superb voicing in the first game, I felt like i am listening to amateurs in here. Maybe it's because the dialogues are very odd and unnatural. It is not believable at all, people just don't react like this in real life. The dubbers probably couldn't cope with such role as well. The game - play style is the same but evolved, cops have various skills, various perks, you can assign various items and then there is completely new tactical missions game style. Sounds great so what could have gone wrong? You always get the same cops, the same skills, the same events... now events and decisions during regular dispatches may have different outcome based on the skills the selected cop has. The issue here is you have no idea what skills or items might be needed when responding to dispatch not to mention you have no idea what skill level requirement is needed when picking the approach... but okay I actually liked this idea but the execution is terrible. There is no such thing as applied logic here because where you expect to need negotiations or speed you actually (for no logical reason) need stealth or specific item like shocker. You have no shocker but have taser on you? Well screw you because you need shocker and cannot use taser. The events feel so unreal here. The criminals act totally unreal and the cops have quite similarly unreal approaches. And there is so much unprofessional-ism here! Most of your cops act so unprofessional they would permanently destroy their career in real life. Like ignoring orders and making their own, killing people. There is a lot of unreasoned dying. character limit

I actually looked forward to this game when it came out. The setting was perfect but totally ruined with writing and storyboard. If you remember the movie: The Room, well this is it. Not to mention the dumb loyalty system and the fact that you are sometimes unable to complete even half of the calls of the shift because of one shift instead of two and the actual police officer act like little children. "i won't work with this guy, my back hurts, i'll have to go home and read a book or i'll be disloyal" With no way to fire these cops and make even a working shift that could complete all it's calls, this game is a MASSIVE failure. Dialogue and cutscenes from The Room just aren't enough to save this one. Stay away.

When compared to the first game, there are more fun. Not just the XCOM element, but also the cases, the abilities, the trading and special event. But when it comes to the story, I think it's not as good as the first one. The writing is sometimes doll, long speech everywhere which is very annoying. It's not building the character if all characters yell at each other for 5min none stop. Literally 5 min. This is why I still miss the "GOOD GOD!" moment in the first one. Simple, straight forward and at the same time forceful, showing who our potagonist is. And the atmosphere of this game is not that right. Jack is going down hill so fast that there isn't any bad that he hasn't done. While in the first game, you can still say that Jack is not a total villian. Other than that, the special mission is way too simple and the enermys are lack of variety. Some of the mission are fun. It can be noticed that the tie gang final mission is definitly well design. For the enemy patrol routes intersect with each others, which forces the player to initiate a large scale arrest. I threw every flash bang, used up all peper splash and teaser gun ammos, just enough to get 12 enermies down in 4-5 rounds. It was an epic vitory. But it's still very stupid when you realise you need to move each character to escape to a certain 3 tiles area which is only shown at the end of the mission. I thought retrieting them back to the start point is OK so I lost a couple guys during this mission. In a word, there are still many flaw with this game. Not the kind that would stop you from enjoying the game, but the kind would feel uncomfortable. But it's a good game afterall. I would definitely play the sandbox mode, which is not something I would say about the first game.

If you loved the first This is the Police released back in 2016, you'll love this. If you didn't, there's still nothing for you here. The sequel expands on many of the original's concepts but has learned very little in the way of fixing its problems. Personally, I can't get enough. High points include the story, the music, and a squad-based tactics portion that rewards players for taking criminals into custody rather than turning them into Swiss cheese.
