Description
Welcome to Thimbleweed Park. Population: 80 nutcases.

A haunted hotel, an abandoned circus, a burnt-out pillow factory, a dead body pixelating under the bridge, toilets that run on vacuum tubes... you’ve never visited a place like this before.

Five people with nothing in common have been drawn to this rundown, forgotten town. They don’t know it yet, but they are all deeply connected. And they’re being watched.

...Who is Agent Ray really working for and will she get what they want?
...What does Junior Agent Reyes know about a 20 year old factory fire that he’s not saying?
...Will the ghost, Franklin, get to speak to his daughter again?
...Will Ransome the *Beeping* Clown ever become a decent human being?
...Will aspiring game developer Delores abandon her dreams and stick by her family?
...And most importantly: how come no one cares about that dead body?

By the end of a long, strange night in Thimbleweed Park, all of this will be answered -- and you’ll question everything you thought you knew.

In a town like Thimbleweed Park, a dead body is the least of your problems.

Super cool so far

It is reminicent of the older point-and click based games of yester-year (don't let that sway you, I will explain) with a modern spin that remionds me of a (much) simpler time. I'v only got about 3 hours in the game (9 total, as I was tired and fell asleep during ) but I am extremely impressed so far. My controls work well with a wireless 360 pad and usb adapter, although it took a bit of time to figure out the right buttons. (I honestly didn't RTFM though, so that was my bad.) If you also like a good story, this seems to be full of dialogue and so far it is pretty darn interesting. There Is a library with tons of little stories aparently written by nackers (mostly) which are pretty entertaining, If you happen to find the book titled "the true secret of Monkey Island' when you reach the ligrary, you really need to read that book! I definitely recommend checking this game out if it sounds interesting at all to you. I purchased for 15.099, and I believe it was worth every penny and then some. doggie

Thimbleweed Park is an instant Classic

Within the first few hours of playing Thimbleweed Park, which lasts about a dozen hours on hard mode, I found myself feeling as though I was playing a new "classic" game. I expected the game to be pixel art, but I did not expect it to also be beautiful. The game definitely sells the concept that it's pixel based art style is a choice and not a limitation. I have seen many reviews saying that the game lacks a story. I feel like this isn't quite true. The game has a very compelling story that kept me engaged and propelled throughout the game's length. What the game does NOT have is a great deal of exposition. As with the best adventure games, the locus of the power in the story is with the player. It is up to YOU to figure out the clues and piece together what is going on. This is necessary because the game is largely non-linear. You can complete the puzzles and explore the town at your own discretion. (The power rests with YOU to propel the narrative.) I've also seen many complaints about the game's ultimate story. These are valid and to some extent I share them. But one has to remember that Thimbleweed Park is based on Twin Peaks. The core conceit of Twin Peaks is that the murder isn't the point. Thimbleweed Park DOES offer a conclusion to it's murder storyline, but just like Twin Peaks, it segues that mystery into a "Second season" that goes beyond the murder. And boy does it go beyond the murder. Ultimately, Thimbleweed park is a BLAST to play. And for me, that's the only thing that matters. The fun and engaging story is just icing on the cake. Any complaints are ancillary to the fact that you absolutely SHOULD play this new classic adventure game.

Point-Click you can't pass up

This game is difficult and entertaining for those who like the puzzles and intricate game play. The designers have all 5 characters interwoven together which is challenging and also pulls you in to keep playing. I was extremely impressed. I only wish there were more games like this with this type of quality. These game designers put forth the effort and quality in this game to give us the perfect point-click adventure. I strongly-strongly-strongly encourage and recommend this game.

Brilliant game

This game is an absolute love-letter to the adventure game genre. It included everything I wanted in an adventure game, which is no surprise since Ron Gilbert and company created the genre and have been thinking about it ever since. References to classic games? Thoughtful puzzles? Fascinating, quirky characters? It's all there. This game takes it a level deeper by making it all real and making you care about the characters. Thimbleweed Park is an absolute joy to play and elevates adventure games to the level of fine art. I can't wait for more from Terrible Toybox.

Everything it should have been

Fans of any other SCUMM games will love this. It's everything those others games were, plus quality of life improvements. Puzzles were good without being obtuse, coupled with a built in hint system that ranges from subtle hint to spoon feeding you the answer. My only complaint is that some of the things in the story either didn't line up or weren't fully explained, but this could have been to me playing on Casual mode (simpler puzzles and dialogue trees) or missing things. I'd understand keeping content behind a difficulty barrier, so that I need to step up to get the extra content, but this should be specific to just that: extra content. I will eventually revisit this game on Hard mode and see if that fills in some blanks for me.
