Garrett, the Master Thief, steps out of the shadows into the City. In this treacherous place, where the Baron’s Watch spreads a rising tide of fear and oppression, his skills are the only things he can trust. Even the most cautious citizens and their best-guarded possessions are not safe from his reach.
As an uprising emerges, Garrett finds himself entangled in growing layers of conflict. Lead by Orion, the voice of the people, the tyrannized citizens will do everything they can to claim back the City from the Baron’s grasp. The revolution is inevitable. If Garrett doesn’t get involved, the streets will run red with blood and the City will tear itself apart.
Garrett never paid the price for anything… until now.

Thief: Tales From The City digital comic (EN/FR) & OST
The latest version of the series supposed to be a new next-gen game, with a character's home base, findings and a controller-like sneak game. Did it work? Totally. The series ran over a serious process of modernization and voilà! Welcome to the new era of gaming Garret...
Actually it is a pretty good game the very few minutes of it that i could play(My laptop is broken, literaly, today my screen told me,fuck it! and broke leaving me with about a tenth of it pixelated)the mechanics are not overwhelming or over the top but the AI is smart, really smart.
Picking each and every thing feels really satisfying (so it does doing each and every action)like picking a treasure from Uncharted; Golden Abyss and i love it,i couldn't get any further in the story so i got nothing to say about or the writting,i never played the original Thief but if it is as good as this one i'll probably pick it up.
It is a game with simple mechanics but in doing so it is really satisfying and rewarding,it is not the action packed sandbox you would expect(you are a thief after all),nonehteless this doesn't make it any less satisfying as a game,my only complains would be the DLC'S.Most of them are purely cosmetic and totally useless(Like Witcher's).
On the plus side you got three everlasting arenas to steal from, so...it is great,in my opinion any good game should come with something like this or just level/maps replay with custom personalization(See battlefront games,Force Unleashed(PsP),Grip...)
Optimization wise...it probably runs great in any pc or laptop but i really can't tell, very few games run in mine anymore so that's up to you i guess.
Do i recomend it,yes, though for hardcore Thief fans i don't know, see for yourselves.
But as said above,it is a really simple game(Like 2005-2015 era) and for being so is amazing,if you are here for the gameplay and not tha GrApHiCs that is.
Having played the entire saga, I can state that Thief (2014) is the BEST effort to bring the serie into the new era of gaming.
Graphic wise it is amazing and the stealth experience is top notch. Not on par with the originals? Maybe, but compare it with other non stealth oriented games and you are in for a treat (just disable the mission's indicator). Plus, Garrett's arsenal still comprises the blackjack, water arrows and the iconic flash bombs.
Know now that many criticisms come form people who haven't played the first games or don't remember them too well. Some oppose the railroaded sessions, in particular an escape on the rooftops, but then there is a similar sequence in “Into the maw of Chaos” from the first Thief, in which we slide trying to avoid protuding blades!
Some despise the linearity, but Thief has a lot of verticality and a multiple path approach, an example being the architect's house which can be accessed in three different ways. So an emergent gameplay is still possible in the reboot.
Others observe that Thief abandons the factions, but hammerites, pagans and the keepers have been thoroughly explored in the past and so the somewhat personal story of the fourth game is a welcome change. Some characters are like cardboards, but the banter is funny as ever.
Another critic is that collecting valuables become tedious, after a while... like cutting down the umpteenth monster in any RPG! Detractors also say that AI is bad and tend to forget the protagonist when he disappears in the shadows... The same thing also happens in the first games. Finally, naysayers claim that Thief is too similar to Disonored, but then Dishonered draws its inspiration from the Thief saga.
Yes, we have another asylum, and it is awesome, like the one in the third game. And the brothel level is gorgeous!
If you have some spare bucks, buy Thief: expecially when discounted is a “steal” and we are “robbers”... after all!
As a clearly underrated classic, Thief 2014 incorporates all the key elements that made the previous Thief games classics, eliminates the poor features of the said games and, most importantly, elevates the whole series to a new level of excellence.
Having read the numerous poor reviews below, I initially hesitated buying this game, but I'm glad I eventually bought it, because it far surpassed my expectations. An incredibly atmospheric and immersive experience in subtle tones of grey that does not deserve all the negativity leveled against it. in YouTube and elsewehere. Thank you Eidos Montreal for this great game.
