Hey you! Play this game.
Not quite as great as the first two games, but that still leaves it being superior to 99% of all games ever made.

My favorite sneak game
Then why is it only 4 stars? Because i beleive in honest ratings and think there is almost always room for improvement. the game did have a few flaws, but honestly i don't think any of them are worth mentioning as they are more nit pick, vrs real issues.. Outside of that, it is actually my favorite game in the serries. the story was great, and game play a ton of fun. Adding personal goals like not knocking anyone out, or getting caught brings this game into the realm of very challenging. The game also has one of the scarriest moments playing a pc game i have ever experianced. You really can't go wrong with this game.

It is broken...
The game will run at first in a small low end resolution only to stop your gameplay at the first lockpicking in the main prologue mission. So there is this fix you can look for and download and if you install it incorrectly or have certain options from the "update" then the controls section in the main menu is gone... Empty. So not only was this game apparently shipped broken, it was also never updated correctly for gameplay. I'll save you hours of frustration. Don't buy it. Thief 1 Gold and Thief 2 are still playable and still fun.

Probably Best to Avoid
Thief: Deadly Shadows was great fun back in the day, but it is near unplayable on modern machines without a patch. The first two chapters are generally navigable, and were quite entertaining. Causing havoc in the streets of the City is hilarious. The ambiance, music, and overall 'feel' are uniquely Thief. But the inability to pick locks and climb ladders means the game cannot be completed. Two early missions, St. Edgar's Eve and Into the Pagan Sanctuary, require these mechanics to complete. It's nothing but frustrating trying endlessly to pick locks while Garrett freezes in place each time I click a door or chest. Because of this grievous flaw, only the first hour or two are playable. Also, the game tends to mess up my screen resolution, the menu cursor is buggy, and alt-tabbing does not work at all. While it's true that the original PC release of this game similarly buggy due to it being a poorly-optimized port, it was at least possible to play all the way through. Unless Thief: Deadly Shadows gets an official fix, I simply can't recommend purchasing it. I think patches are available *somewhere* on the Internet but, frankly, I don't feel that I should have to repair a game I paid money for.

Not much Thief in this one
Thief 3: Deadly Shadows has not much in common with the two previous Thief games. That said it's not a boring or bad game either. But some of the old Thief things where missing, rope arrows for example. What I really disliked was the fractions thing and its importance in the game. Instead of "I dont care what other do or say, I do my thing" like in T1 + 2 you have to make friends with the fraction whether you like them or not.
