You are Garrett, the master thief. Rarely seen and never caught, Garrett is the best that ever was. Able to sneak past any guard, pick any lock, and break into the most ingeniously secured residences. Garrett steals from the wealthy and gives to himself, making his living in the dark and foreboding City. Here crime and corruption are commonplace, wealthy nobles prey on the poor and each other, and magic and machinery coexist uneasily. World weary and cynical, Garrett wants nothing more than to be left alone to ply his trade. But things never work out that way.

I died a few times because I was Dumb. Died to raiding. had to sneak it out.
The skills I learned avoiding my dad with the jumper cables...played well here.
The gameplay is generally one of the most important aspects in a game and especially in a game like Thief. The movement in Thief 3 is unfortunately broken. Forget the smooth movement like in Thief 1 and 2. In Thief 3 the movement is just painfully bad and nothing solves this issue. You usually have at most one clunky mechanic in a game like "moon jumping" for instance but in Thief 3 nearly every game mechanic is terrible. Opening door is weird, pick-pocketing is almost impossible, jumping, crouching, walking.... take your pick because everything is here. You will get this feeling the game is going to break at any moment and you will fall through the floor and fly all over the map.
For those who want all the Thief games (even if this is a fail in comparison). Judged alone it's not bad at all (even good) but it just doesn't live up to it's predecessors. Even the new Thief surpasses this one and it doesn't come close to 1 & 2 either IMO.
The worst of the trilogy by far. I encountered the infamous "stuck" glitch one too many times, where it actually devalued the entire game for me (it's THAT rampant!). Also the removal of fan favourite items was really a kick to the groin area, rope/vine arrow being the biggest offender. I also realized Garret moved really weird in first person, only to later discover that the game was made with third person movement in mind, making first person feel like i was controlling a tank. And finally, the purple haze in and out of missions breaks immersion completely for me. It's not all bad however, there is some really good here too; from the music, missions, and the classic cutscenes (not the atrocious in-game engine cutscenes this game throws in mind you) and just the overall vibe of the game and i can't help but feel this game could’ve been better than Thief 2 if all these things were ironed out. While there is some good to be found, overall the game takes too many steps back and the performance issues were just too far from being acceptable in my opinion.
