Still a classic
T2 has this special balance to give you the real feeling of a thief from the past. The cards are drawn by hand on a piece of paper, and sometimes fairly improper. Sometimes you don't have a real clue. No one in the middle age had a printer, and as a thief, you have to figure out yourself where the goods are. I don't know any other actual game which gives you that feeling. The KI is quite impressive for a game of that age. The guards are talking to themself, do some smalltalk with each other... and are generally bored and unhappy with their job. If you annoy them enough, they are pretty persistent to hunt you down. And of course the mob is arrogant, is afraid, do talk to each other... There is this special part which make that very plausible. It is now 22 years old. That's a whole human generation. And as we see: there are still people buying, playing and have some fun with that game. I just wonder why there is still no remaster of these original games. Hint: Install the HD Mod. The original graphics are just awful today, and this mod gives the game back some shine it really deserves.

Another Masterclass Immersive Sim
Took what was good about Thief 1 and expanded on it, while (mostly) taking out all the worst parts of the first game. Most of the levels are amazing, save for the last one; a common theme among Immersive Sims. Not many games sctratch the itch that Thief does.

Meh
This game draws for too long. It barely brings anything new compared to the first game. Some areas are too large and empty. The plot is shallow, the villains are cartoonish. Half of Garrett's arsenal is redundant or outright useless on Expert difficulty. On some missions, extra objectives feel contrived (as "find 7 secrets", really, aren't they supposed to be secrets and not objectives required to complete the mission?). Last two penultimate missions (Casing the Joint and Masks) are painfully boring and frustrating. Not *the* best stealth game by a long shot.

widescreen
Simply loved T1 and T2. T3 was.. nice. Can anyone confirm if the GOG version of T2 supports widescreen resolutions?
