Theme Park

Haha the old Theme Park. I played this on the Playstation (PSX) release when I was about 13 years old. I first played a demo of Theme Hospital on my first computer which was a 486 PC. Later I found Theme Park at Electronics Boutique for the PSX and bought it right away. I like building the park but the thing I had hard time with was when I bought a new property to build. It was always so difficult to get profits on the new parks. I mostly went bankrupt on my 2nd park. There were a couple times I did barely move onto a 3rd park but it was like instant death once I did that. And I didn't understand the stock market at all, seemed like it did nothing but just popup annoying messages that some computer player owns 10% of my park.

No review of the game itself, just this GOG version. It installs properly, but in game the sound doesn't work (tested different settings for the sound driver) and the 'graphics are not updating automatically': whenever I build something it is there but invisible until I scroll the map. It also has alignment issues, with certain graphical items overlapping here and there where they shouldn't.

I would have given this game 3 stars back in the day, but as there are so many better options now, I'm dropping a star. I get that many people remember this game fondly and that that often influences a persons score of a game. There is no need to be objective when leaving a review on GOG and I respect that. I myself love plenty of games from the time of this game that others might have a hard time getting into these days. But, this isn't one of those games. This is a game I played during middle school (if I remember correctly) and I honestly never understood all of the fuss. I love these types of games, Roller Coaster Tycoon sucked away months of my life. This game is buggy, unattractive, hard on the ears, and just plain not fun to play. The interface isn't great and overall in the end there isn't a whole lot to do. I can't see how anyone who is being honest could claim that this game stands the test of time and is worth playing with options out there like Roller Coaster Tycoon. If you loved it as a child and want to re-experience it or if you really need to play every bullfrog game or see the beginning of a genre, then by all means pick this up at whatever price suits you. Personally, I'd wait for a sale. Myself? I'm going to choose to leave the painful memories behind me and pop in my copy of Roller Coaster Tycoon for a few quick hours of fun on a lazy Saturday morning.

I wasted so much time as a kid in the 90's playing this game. I don't even know how in the hell it ended up in my possession but I played it all the time. I always loved making rides free but making everything else cost so much. Literally Six Flags on my desktop.

Fun game from the good old days. Just have one question thoug, anybody know how to slow down the speed of the game? Even at its slowest rate in game days go to fast.
